Best TV show ever. Since I finished it a few years ago I've struggled to go back to 'normal' TV shows. Nothing's come close.

Just finished watching this for the second time about two weeks ago. I've decided it's taken over Sopranos as my #1 T.V show. It's so well written and so intricate.... Love it!

I bought the first season over a year ago for £10 based on all that i had read. Still haven't watched it... I know I'll get hooked, and I don't need that right now with exams.

Best show ever.

Check out The Corner if you haven't seen it. It's a mini-series by David Simon (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0224853/)

The Wire is so good, its one of those things it's safe to say that....if you meet someone that doesnt like it, we probably are not going to get along...

Characters are so sick, literally can't decide who is my favourite. I think after changing loads of times, its Avon cos he stayed true to his code and well.... "he's just a gangster, I suppose"

@waki corner boys is sick! Also probably a repost but check "Generation Kill" by the same guys....

I was thinking about who was the best 'badman' in The Wire.

*Spoiler Alert (I suppose)*

Based on the ability to adapt and overcome the changes from the old skool ways to the new skool - the ability to survive in the game but still retaining a certain code of ethics, it's got to be Slim Charles. I know people will argue and say Omar or even Bodie (two of my favourite characters) but it's there adherence to the old skool ways that's ultimately their demise.

yeah good call on slim charles! definitely did things the right way, was a straight up soldier, things end up well for him as well! Can't deny Omar is a true G neither. I really like Bodie but still think what he did to Wallace was too cold...

everything that the people behind wire do is top notch. the corner, the wire, generation kill and treme. treme has the same level of amazing storyline n whatnot with the added bonus of sick music too.

Shit, i'd forgotten about that. It's so out of character for Bodie though. Wallace aside, he's essentially a good person just born in bad circumstances.

Just finished the first season yesterday, so good. I think its up there with Sopranos and Dexter. Still can't believe Wallace got gunned down. Stringer is a fucking animal, beefy fuck.

i think sopranos is dogshit compared to the wire, if the wire never existed i might actually think sopranos was decent instead of just being overly long and full of constant cliche.

My favourite character is Prop Joe. He's an absolute dude. Comes out with some pure gold:

Apart from him, it's gotta be the Bunk. Strictly a suit and tie mother fucker.

Yeah prop Joe is also one of my favourites (there are so many), but at the end of the day he was too kind hearted for the new breed coming through.
Bunk is a straight up badman - "I'm just a humble mother fucker with a big dick"

prop joe is cool, the bunk is a legend especially when he goes to fuck that woman and ends up setting fire to his clothes so there's no evidence.

but the one character that is always guaranteed to make any scene better has gotta be clay davis Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit!
