Re: Skrillex, aka Vocals Processing and Chopping
I've done this in my newest song (singnature, about halfway through.)
I find that if you get the sample, chop it up with slice x (or other daw alternative) and duplicate and reverse all thos parts. Iunno if this is what you mean, but skrillex definately reverses a lot of his samples.

But to be on topic, I heard he uses Melodyne.
I found a way to get piece of mind for years and left the hell alone, turn a deaf ear to the cellular phone

I spent a few days screwing around with chopped up vocal samples. I just dropped them into a drum rack (I'm using Live) and played around with it until it sounded cool .

Caught this one today. It's a pretty good video for getting into vocal chops! I have a lot of recorded vocal snippets of myself over the years that I use. I usually use Melodyne, but coupling it with Autotune adds a lot of variety as they have 2 different sounds (natural vs. robotic). Also, try finding random ass acapellas of other artists (I use a lot of Japanese stuff) to cut in for added variance, as well as screwing around with vocoders. There's a lot of experimentation to be had with this stuff! Vocal editing is one of my favorite things that I often use in my production (probably a little too much), and behind drums and FM synthesis, it's one of the things I excel at (insert trophy or cookie here) and have the most fun with. I'm just sayin this stuff to really get everyone thinking outside the box. Use vocal clips from random YouTube videos/Skype conversations, don't be afraid to try things outside of your comfort zone!Eartrash wrote:

Haha that's some seriously interesting shit that I'm going to try now. I'm actually laughing out loud at how awesome of an idea it is and how simple it is that I question my own intelligence for never thinking of it. Nice post!
EDIT*: Sounds killer! Ha sample editing just got flipped to easy-mode.
Re: Skrillex, aka Vocals Processing and Chopping
I agree melodyne is where its at!
It's an amzing plug in, I've been having lotsa fun w/ it. Its so easy . Formant shifting is sweet
In Ableton Live this is pretty easily achieved. Record or obtain vocal sample, slice to midi, rearrange slices into a melody, automate pitch shift, also some kinda auto tune makes it sound much better. Auto-talent is free.
