Archie JD - Hypnotised
If Hypnotised like to tell us something about themselves, it’s probably that they’re interesting but deep fellows. And that’s exactly what they’ve delivered with a twisting, melodic house and insightful EP, skip and groove in a similar manner to one another, ironing out the wild bounciness of the original. Archie JD stutters the vocal, introduces a few neat fills and generally displays tight production.
Abstract and piercing, the title track mixes strained vocal chops around hollow atmospherics and warming, humanized chimes, it’s a lo-fi affair until the drop itself casually skips into warming and thought provoking house music of a grade quality, gradually progressing and building to hypnotic effect.
It's Time takes synths that sound like they’re bleeding all over you as they fade in and out behind a bubbly beat and skipping percussion, in a minor tone sound perfectly complimented by the vocals, while Fyono remix, the most left field of the trio, is left until last bending and crossing tech percussion and melodic, house rhythms into an expert concoction that offers plenty of funky feel and driving, existential clarity.
