Skrillex Live Video Edit [NOT ALL DUBSTEP BEWARE]

Post by Dub Era » Tue May 24, 2011 4:13 pm

Ok had to edit this, before i get murdered on this forum, video starts with REALLY SOFT music... im sorry if it burns your brain... :/ im tempted to pull video now.(EDIT)

Hello everyone I'm new to dubstepforum.com, also this is my first post. I'll start off by telling you a little bit about me, and the point to my video. My real name is Robert and I am a huge fan of Dubstep, DnB, and the majority of the sounds surrounding these genre's. I'm sure as with most forums I am due a few flamers for that fact that this is a "Skrillex Video" however I did really enjoy making this video for any Skrillex fans out there. Keep in mind the video starts off a little emo... very slow and lovey.... Shouldn't take but a minute or so before the drops begin. I enjoy how diverse Skrillex is, the dubstep, the trance and glitch he throws in etc... Also this video includes a new track from the Foreign Beggars "Still Gettin It". The video was filmed on a Canon 7D, and edited by myself from Ultra Music Festival 13. This is just the 1st video I plan to make... I currently have Rusko, Deadmau5, Nero, and some other jam band videos like Empire of the sun and Crystal Castles that are all due to release here in the next few months. So this video and the other name drops just arn't hardcore enough for you? Well just to fill you in my plans are to make hundreds of live remastered videos from all my favorite artist's out there. ( this includes things outside of electronic music ) My next stop is Starscape Music Festival where ill be filming some new content which will include, Flux Pavilion , Doctor P, Excison, Datsik, Bassnectar, Zeds Dead, more skrillex etc and so on. So please if you enjoyed the video give me some feedback, also look forward to much more to come...I hope I havn't broken any rules here on dubstepforum.com but I do plan to use this forum a lot, thank you for reading and watching.... :) Enjoy

the thing is, most people on this forum listen to dubstep that sounds like dubstep. you know, that stuff that hovers around 140 bpm and places emphasis on subbass rather than screetchy robot noises; and a lot of the producers you mentioned seem to really enjoy those transformer sounds. also, not saying those midrange wobbley noises don't have a place in the music, it's just not the main focus. if you dig them, that's awesome and no one can tell you what you should and shouldn't listen to.

Hey man,

To be honest, don't think you need to explain so much in depth why you like somebody, you just do, and that should be enough. If you like Skrillex, then whatever, I think the shit he churns out is topped only by Modestep in the WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS, THIS IS TERRIBLE stakes. To the guy who said you aren't going to get far, ignore that, there's plenty of people here that like Skrillex and all the other brostep/tearout/hype stuff.

This is one of the things that really grinds my gears with a lot of newcomers to the scene, like they're all ADHD kids who can't wait more than 30 seconds for drop after drop after drop. Need to appreciate the space and vibe of tracks a little more, it's expectations like this that make people who listen to a more "chilled" (I use that sarcastically) track label it boring within the first 20 seconds.

its funny cause i used to be like that until i started DJing and gaining an understanding for the structure of the music and how that can be used to create awesome blends that really help to showcase the space and vibe you mention. learning how to build a good mix, and observing those who could, really leant itself to an appreciation of space, vibe and subbass. also the roboyoi-ing got repetitive after roughly six months and frustrating when the songs clashed in the mix. not sure if this is constructive in any way, just my two cents...

I just absolutely can not understand how in the world people could like this sound... How the fuck can people enjoy listening to this?

I tried to watch the video, honestly, and I made it through the first minute (that utter fucking La Roux again, but ok), then the usual noise dropped and I just had to click pause... I just simply can't listen to that...
I'd rather listen to a one hour speech of Osama Bin Laden talking about how muslims should take over the entire world than to a Skrillex track.

I know that we're joking around alot on here about this whole brostep scene, but I'm dead serious... I honestly don't understand it. Why? Why do people listen to this?
There is completely, absolutely, nothing nice about it. It's just plain noise. That's what it is and nothing more and nothing less.

What is it that makes all those people go completely nuts about this emo dude who's missing his hair on one side of his head?
And check this out:
- Skream's Facebook: "151.690 People Like This."
- Skrillex' Facebook: "614.501 People Like This."

I mean... What The Fuck?

well... cause you can 'rage' to it, bro. not sure where you live, but going to university in the US i can tell you there is bare appeal to kids who just wanna get really fucked up and dance around like a raving idiot (raging). i think simply because of its aggressive, loud, noisy nature (much like the kids who listen to it, i guess the people who listen to it are like it?)... i dunno, dubstep is becoming 'cool'... i dunno... just... i dunno...

dont let it get to you, people shall like what they like. its not gonna impinge upon you enjoying the music you do.

Its called following a trend to look cool in front of your friends. Other people at their schools must think theyre so edgy for listening to what they call 'dubstep'. Doesnt the average age range of these people tell you something though? Kids that really dont have a clue.

Yeah I guess you're right... If that really is the reason why people listen to him then that is seriously fucking retarded.

Since when did a certain type of music become a trend that everyone has to follow?
Now I can understand this with clothing, it has been that way for years, kids these days all have to wear the same clothes of the same expensive brand to be "cool", which, I admit, I sort of do too.
But isn't the type of music that we listen to based on the fact that we love it? Instead of because we are told to do so?

Has it really come this far that all those guys listen to Skrillex because their friends say "No fuck you, you can't listen to that. You either start listening to Skrillex right now or we ditch you."
If someone would say that to me I would fucking laugh and walk away. That is seriously pathetic.

i think you oversimplify it a little, its far more subconscious imo. like when the people who surround you and are supposed to be 'like-minded' move towards something you tend to drift with... if that makes any sense. i dunno deciphering this is a shitstorm of impossibility that has been tried 1983018609128 times on this forum.

Hahah yeah you're right.

But then I still find it absolutely unbelievable that so many people listen to it. I mean, if I had never heard of Dubstep before, and some of my friends would come up to me someday and say "Mate, you gotta check this guy out, I found him on youtube the other day. He's called Skrillex and makes this sick music called Dubstep." and if he would then play me a song I would still tell him to fuck right off because it's shit.
It's not that I would start listening to music that I completely dislike just because my mates listen to it you know?

But yeah, it's indeed quite useless to have these discussions all the time. I guess some people are just too damn ignorant.
