I'm gonna sound like a tnuc here but the voice over really pissed me off because I don't believe you should have a voice over unless

A/ It serves the plot, ie the voiceover is the sound of someone in the world of the film, being interviewed

B/ You are Terrence Malick

Every time I heard the voiceover it reminded me that I am watching a trashy hollywood film (I know that it didn't aspire to be anything more than that but still)

I guess I just like to be immersed in the plot and not be reminded that I am watching a film

also Parson's thought it was great which is usually an indication of a bad film, going by his other recommendation which have been dire (I know Parsons, i just don't get it, I'm stuck in the matrix etc)
in some cases voiceovers are fine, because you have to remember that although you are watching a film, you are also involved with a story.

Do you mean you have to watch all three, or you watch one, dress up like Neo and go and have a picnic in the park?

I wholeheartedly second this!
If you haven't seen 'Red Beard' then his badassery is not fully apparent to you.

I have not, it must not be, this shall be rectified immediately, thanks

Mifune's cameo in Sword of Doom is unreal, just ultimate badassness
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.

Just so you know, 'Red Beard' is quite long and nowhere near as fast paced as Yojimbo etc. His badassery is very apparent in the scene that picture is from though.

@Noam: GITS is boss! Very similar to The Matrix, yes. I love all that Ship of Theseus/Triggers broom stuff. I'd recommend GITS 2. Do not watch it stoned though, one scene in particular will severely mind fuck you.
The soundtrack to both GITS films are amazing!

watch ghost in the shell 2 if you can. avoid the american dvd release which has dumbed down subtitles. it's worth the effort to find the good subs.

the version i saw way back in the day had really detailed subtitles with footnotes that explained the literary references and double meanings that are completely left out in the american dvd version. it was an mkv files if that helps at all.

Pretty sure it's these subtitles, I uploaded the ones I had: http://www.mediafire.com/?d0zv57bdjvzwc76
There's notes like [This is a quote from ___ ]

Should work on any copy of GITS2.
