anyone can throw an awards. i think its a big mistake to try and discourage people from trying to throw big events, or promote how they see the sound. at the end of the day these events need main player dj's to stand behind them to make them successful. i think all of us are waiting to see the final lineups.

that said, if you're going to brand it using "dubstep" you know already that you've put a big target on your back, and with that target comes responsibility to at the minimum, represent the community. in 2011, repping that diversity is definitely a challenge.

Was a really good show but to be honest Al it wasnt anything that hasnt really been said in this thread already or between ourselves and members of the SNH group in private. Good of him not to keep a 'professional silence' and to share his views to a wider audience though.

Thats a fair observation soulblazers but GetDarker have done a lot for the scene, in fact they are one of the most forward thinking teams out there, and although I'm sure they make a bit of money from their hard work I know their main motivation comes from a love of the music.

Like plastician said.. why is everyone talking shit about something that hasn't even found place, for all we know this is going to be awesome, so i would wait untill the line up/vote system drops before getting all worked up about nothing.
And i know that the gd boys have done alot of stuff for the scene but that doesn't make it allright of them to say stuff about an organisation that they know little about when there's a bunch of people listening

pete bubonic wrote:It's a night! With a lot of money! And will generate a fuck load more money! Props to em. The 'awards' tag is purely for promo and to get nerds/ravers and other general punters such as ourselves talking about it and boost ticket sales. Nothing more, nothing less. The awards themselves will be as inconsequential as the dnb awards the same people run. No one gives a fuck about the awards, but it's a good promo angle to hold a fucking massive rave.

I really wouldn't get too hung up on it!

I really don't see why just because it's called Dubstep they have to represent anything they don't want too? They should represent the music they like and the punters will like... Dubstep is just a word

all about context thought. its like saying that poetry doesn't represent poets, because its just a word.

for one person dubstep might be : deep medi/anti social/tectonic
another one might feel that : Buygore/rottun/Ultragore is dubstep
who cares .. its just a name, the music that you love will not change because the name has multiple meaning to other people ..

So people are no longer able to give their opinions on something in the public domain? Maybe if they were a little more forthcoming with information people would be able to get a clearer picture of exactly what is going on and could therefore make a more accurate opinion.

Ofcourse everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but loads of guys in this thread are just saying that its gonna be shit and that the organisers are in it for the cash based on 5 lines of information & a logo. the awards are in 5 months or something so give them some time to do everything proper and then let them get the rest of the news out when they feel they are ready for it...
