Thanks all for bringing my attention to this kind of thing.
I think there's something kind of magical about 4x4 beats at 100 bpm, the slowness gives it a kind of edge to the rhythm 'coz you expect it to be faster.
This is something I did in this type of style, got a famous soul vocal on it

anyone got any more recommendations along these lines:
i'm familiar with andy stott, kowton, kassem mosse, szare but would love to hear about some other gems on this side of things. not so into the cheery edits sound personally.
