all that matters is that the tracks are class

big up the DJ Eastwood

Well yeh great insight but if that is a weekly basis it would be getting a bit ridiculous.garethom wrote:Whenever they feel like it?
I rekon an artist can releases as slowly as they wish even if that is a release a year or longer, too many tracks then it can be a bit silly, the artist can end up rinsing their own style, it gets old, tracks become less special and get forgotten about. A 12'' every 5 weeks is pretty healthy i think...

was gonna say something along them lines, even tho i think every 5 week is still too muchStigmatism wrote:too many tracks then it can be a bit silly, the artist can end up rinsing their own style, it gets old, tracks become less special and get forgotten about. every 5 weeks is like 10 singles a year, it's too much for my tastes.
girl unit's released two 12"s. so's jam city. blawan's released three. addison groove two (as addison). t. williams five (as t. williams). pangaea's released what, six or seven ever? quality over quantity, every time. you don't need to flood the market to make a name for yourself.

tom nailed it...
good music doesn't age, remember that before rushing out something.
it'll come back to the 'people want everything now' subject anyway.

Re: how often do u think a producer should release music
My point was that I'd rather a producer release something that he thought was top quality, than thinking, I may as well release this track (that they aren't feeling as much), because everyone's expecting me to release something every month or so.Stigmatism wrote:Well yeh great insight but if that is a weekly basis it would be getting a bit ridiculous.garethom wrote:Whenever they feel like it?

Re: how often do u think a producer should release music
if it's good, then as often as possible; speaking of, I need more new Boddika
Re: how often do u think a producer should release music
see what i mean.
boddika's released three solo 12"s this year, an instrumental album and 12" and a ton of remixes.
you can't expect someone to just churn em out and the quality level to stick. make the most you can with what you have.

as long as the tunes are good just release them.
if blawan put out 1 12" per month i'd probably still want more.

the only way a track gets less special is if the initial reason for liking it was hype rather than qualityStigmatism wrote:Well yeh great insight but if that is a weekly basis it would be getting a bit ridiculous.garethom wrote:Whenever they feel like it?

Re: how often do u think a producer should release music
yeah i agree with this, i dont mind how long they release them, it seemed ages after the shrew ep for joy orbs next release to come out, but i didnt complain and it made me even more excited to get it then!tom_lea wrote:every 5 weeks is like 10 singles a year, it's too much for my tastes.

also addison groove has had 4 12"s

Re: how often do u think a producer should release music
I think one ep every quarter of the year seems reasonable as that would be 4 for the year but this all depends on the producer/labels the demand for the songs and is the producer getting air play by djs and are the songs quality.
