Re: Swamp 81- What's the deal?
Thank goodness I started collecting vinyl again, once Sicko Cell comes out I'm gonna be all over on that. But I agree that it's unfair for those who really would like to score a copy of some of these gems. It's unbelievable that Falty's release had such limited pressing. The first time I saw it in shops they sold out immediately. But then again Doldrums is also vinyl exclusive also.
You can always buy copies from Discogs but it's unbelievable what people charge for them.

I dont see the harm in releasing CD compilations of these amazing tunes (as Deep Medi and more recently Hessle have done) eventually.

Re: Swamp 81- What's the deal?
They're gonna have to press a fuck of a lot of copies of Sicko Cell...
Re: Swamp 81- What's the deal?
^ don't think they're worried about pressing enough... Look at it from the side of those who don't use digital... Plenty of stuff never comes out on vinyl, but you never hear us crying about how we feel cheated and have to resort to theft (especially theft against people who have given us so much for so long)

technically it's true, but if those dj's use vinyl and are worried about digital releases not getting pressed, they should know that Serato can help em out with that lol.

Re: Swamp 81- What's the deal?
also true but a brand new serato setup is WAY more expensive than going out and buying a cheap turntable to play vinyl exclusives yakno, so it goes both ways! if the digital users are worried about vinyl not getting released digitally, they should know a cheap turntable can help out with that lol.limbo wrote:technically it's true, but if those dj's use vinyl and are worried about digital releases not getting pressed, they should know that Serato can help em out with that lol.

Re: Swamp 81- What's the deal?
it's a hell of a lot cheaper in the long run to make one large initial purchase (serato/traktor) then to dive into collecting vinyl right now for most people.
i too am kind of getting over the limited edition thing.
i understand it's purpose for bootlegs, but for releases i don't like it as much as i used too.
i do also find it odd that vinyl only label owners play out digitally. i think that if you expect me to shell out and carry around vinyl to play your labels tunes you could at least do the same. no need to cut plates even, just play the vinyl release out.
but people can do whatever the fuck they want really. im not losing sleep over it.

Re: Swamp 81- What's the deal?
I can easily see Swamp 81 releasing digital in the near future, I don't think it was ever planned that Swamp was going to be strictly vinyl. I think Loefah still has love for vinyl and maybe wants to do his part to keep it going but has probably planned all along that he will be releasing on digital. Patience!

Deep Medi releases digital, I can understand why DMZ doesn't. I don't know what input that has to all of this I just wanted to say it.

Re: Swamp 81- What's the deal?
Reading stuff like this and other comments in this thread it makes me wonder how people managed before mp3s and instant access to music , it seems funny to me that people become upset when they cannot have the music they want when they want , people speak bucket loads of passion about the music about the scene etc etc but when required to put in minimal effort(get turn table , buy vinyl)all the passion goes out the window

thats different though, downloading music doesn't prevent anyone else from listening it
that shit you posted seems like too much effort. if i never downloaded elements croydon house i would never be able to listen to after over 6 months, its a fucking joke, if u cant afford even a cheap deck how can u listen to the tunes. what annoys me the most is some of these tunes are the best to have been made recently yet their restricting the spread of the sound. they can attempt to artificially keep their shit niche but i will always download swamp81 releases

Re: Swamp 81- What's the deal?
I reckon that's a heap of crap, mate. People can still have a "passion" regardless of the format. For some, maybe they simply cannot afford a vinyl setup or maybe cannot accommodate it. "Minimal effort" can be translated as "a lot of money" which some people may simply not possess.nakedlunch wrote:Reading stuff like this and other comments in this thread it makes me wonder how people managed before mp3s and instant access to music , it seems funny to me that people become upset when they cannot have the music they want when they want , people speak bucket loads of passion about the music about the scene etc etc but when required to put in minimal effort(get turn table , buy vinyl)all the passion goes out the window

Re: Swamp 81- What's the deal?
Complaining about needing a turntable to play vinyl is as stupid as complaining about needing an ipod or computer to play digital files.

Entitled much addicted? You never would have made it in the 50s... "buddy holly wants me to pay for his music? Why isn't there a way I can steal it with minumum effort
why should I pay? I'm only listening"

Re: Swamp 81- What's the deal?
It costs about £50 to get one dubplate cut for Digital-Only releases, or free tunes given away. I haven't seen any vinyl-heads complaining about that in threads, so I don't think digital users should be complaining about this either.
