Re: Working Out....
thats classic, used to get loads in my old gym who'd come in in their normal clothes and just wander about, occasionally try and lift a really heavy weight badly then wander about some more, also used to get all the local ex-salford gangsters in there, one of the more infamous ones would stand in front of the mirror and scream himself red whilst he worked out, proper roid head, never nice to be in the gym when he's there!garethom wrote:
There are some proper skinny little chavs though that come in, do everything wrong with weights you know they can't lift, then they stop and give it the "Arr yeah yeah, could do much more than that last week when you weren't here" kind of thing.
Edit: Also, there's usually some old school garage CD's blaring out the speakers, so you get to listen to some sick tracks.
nice background music aswell! would love it if i found a gym like that, but if i do it at home i can listen to whatever i want!

Re: Working Out....
started back in february, been going 3/4 times a week to prep myself for the rugby season... but have been considering dropping rugby in favour of something a little more interesting... maybe ice hockey.
put on a good 10 kilos since feb, quit smoking, can now run for about 50% longer without getting stitches and noticed a much quicker recovery time since i stopped smoking too. only thing is after the gym ill go to see my girlfriend and she'll know that i've killed my arms and abs so she tickles me knowing full well theres fuck all i can do about it... bitch.

Re: Working Out....
one day you should go straight to your girlfriends and pretend you've been to the gym, then when she tickles you, grab her arms and pull them off...

My gym are pretty okay, not enough free weights though. The people are okay, pretty lonely though. There's one huge guy, we call him the Viking. He has a orange beard and orange hair in a knot.
Also, haven't you guys heard about earplugs?

Re: Working Out....
all about free weights and swimming. If you set goals for yourself and swim laps, like hitting a gym and swimming 3 times a week and do 20 laps a day, working up to 30-35 laps in a month, then 50 in 2 months, you will be a tough motherfucker. If you pull off butterfly laps in that mix... you are going to build so much muscle that you will look like a finely chiseled statue.
I used to do this years ago, and was in great shape, but school really made my physical activities recess. Graduated however and Im wanting to get back in the mix, but I have to quit cigarettes too so hopefully I can tackle both at the same time. Working out will help me quit smoking and then get back in shape.
Also insanity work out is crazy, much like p90x.

Not even kidding
edit: and don't work out at home to start off. Work out at a gym, preferably one you have to drive to, so you get into the routine of committing and going to the gym. If you're in your garage throwing a couple of dumbbells around you're less likely to finish the full 45 minutes or hour you want to do. At least, that has been my experience.
Re: Working Out....
As soon as it gets into week-long training plans and gym memberships, I'm like...nah, not for me.
I think I should just get a pull up bar, some weights, a matt and just workout in my room rather than being sat on my fucking arse so many hours a day. Not sure those rigid plans are for me.

Re: Working Out....
I dont want to sound rude, but then progress isn't for you. With just the aid of protien and creatine and a decent lifting/sleeping sched, the average fuck can put on 25 pounds of clean muscle a year, if not more. Shit, two months into a good program you start to see results even with a jacket on, and people around you notice. Granted, not everyone lifts for that, but you'd be surprised.wubstep wrote:As soon as it gets into week-long training plans and gym memberships, I'm like...nah, not for me.

Need to understand I'm not desperate for this shit though, just could do with working out a bit, gradually build up some girth. I don't really care about my image, it's just probably unhealthy to weigh the same as a 9 year old.borrowed wrote:I dont want to sound rude, but then progress isn't for you. Re: Working Out....
Lol I'm not either, I'm saying its definitely a surprising plus though. There's no point in spending a year doing what you could do in two months if you sacked up a bit.wubstep wrote:Need to understand I'm not desperate for this shit though, just could do with working out a bit, gradually build up some girth. Re: Working Out....
I do skate regularly, a few times a week, and it's very hilly round here. Apart from that, nothing. Anything is gonna benefit me.
