A CD Release Party for world-renowned producer, musician, & dj State of Bengal as he unleashes his long-anticipated fourth CD "SKIP-IJ." This UK Asian electronic pioneer and founding member of Anokha, State of Bengal performs in support of his latest release “SKIP-IJ,” in an exclusive Bay Area appearance.
The unusual title of the album “SKIP-IJ” refers to music that is not defined by a particular period and has the ability to skip through the ages. Inspired by uniting people all over the world through the love of music, State of Bengal created an album that transcended through culture and has fused together music from all over the world to produce a new sound, showcasing elements of South Asian instrumentation, African polyrhythms, urban breakbeat culture and quirky melodies to create a unique and refreshing sound called Skip-ij!
SoB has released works on Real World, One Little Indian, and Virgin records; and has done remixes for the likes of Bjork, Massive Attack, & collaborations with legends such as Ananda Shankar, Jolly Mukherjee, and Paban Das Baul.
