Sup guys!
Mannyyyy - Dude the dnb sound great to me even though i dont listen too much of it. but anyways those swaying basslines kickass. maybe some more sub tho?
Specimen Yarp - intro is awesome man its full in every aspect. is there any way to wobble more of that main bassline? its such a fat sound (kinda like basscannon) im just wondering if it would sound just as good wobbled more.
Oprs - Intro was a little long but the atmosphere sounds awesome the whole way through. super ambient and trippy. near the end its just some sick awesome mixes of ghostly synths i love it!!! great job!!
heres my tune below. i was going for some brostep wobble madness tell me what you think!!

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@blanx Bass is really nice... only bit i dont like is the intro right before the drop how its fades out but the kick is at constant volume, bit weak for my liking.. id say keep it rising like before that last part but extend and chuck a few snares in instead of kicks... personal prefernce i guess tho...
@kikaruu main bass is grimey as fuck i really like it. simple yet interesting... i think your breakdown should actually be ur intro and visa versa lol. it seems the intro is fairly abrupt and it builds up to nothing. now i know thats probably what you were going for but the ambience/pad after that little build is just far too long imo... if i were to suggest anything it would be longer intro and bigger build to the drop instead of letting it hang then dropping it.
@stefvr intro sounds so nice and clean, good change from the intros u usually hear. did not expect that kinda bass in the drop tbh but i fuckin loved it! the deadmau5yish chords are a nice break so your ears dont die on you but all in all well done mate.
i dont have anything to post atm but i might post a bit later possibly.

Hello all ^^ Sorry for being lazy and not introducing myself elsewhere or setting up my sig or anything ^^
Anyways, I'm working on a brony dubstep mix, and running into some trouble. Would you mind listening to this sample and tell me the mistakes I'm making, or what I could do to improve it?
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1715217/bassdrop.wav
It doesn't sound all that great and I can't put my finger on why. I did rage and delete all my synth recordings that are there, but I can easily create something new or similar again between my Moog/Korg/Softsynths.
I did notice that the drums and sub are pretty weak, so I spent last night creating a new kit and synthesizing a new sub- can someone with decent monitors tell me if these are any better?
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1715217/drumsubredo.wav
I still feel they're kindof weak, any ideas on processing I could do to improve it, or some better (hopefully free) samples I could work with?
Thank you!

dude thank you for the good tips!!! imma actually change that up. i was skeptical about it too. i was even wondering if i should move the second drop to the first drop. anyways thanks buddy for listenin!BevOh wrote:@blanx Bass is really nice... only bit i dont like is the intro right before the drop how its fades out but the kick is at constant volume, bit weak for my liking.. id say keep it rising like before that last part but extend and chuck a few snares in instead of kicks... personal prefernce i guess tho...

@blanx - Nice vocals, but the drop isn't working well... So maybe work with more with it. But yeah. These vocals are pretty nice there
@BevOh - Dno, if it's my headphones or not, but it feels muddy... The snare needs more reverb imo. Nice bass synth, tho.
@ninthy4 - Sick as always !!! You know what you are doing... got no words..
@oprs - Different shit, but not bad, actually pretty trippy. Really sweet intro. Love the snare.
@kikaruu - Wow. Now that's one scary bass you have there ! Nice work with the bass.
Here is my work in progress atm :
A bit different stuff... not a dubstep. So, yeah. Sorry brostep guys : (

@z6z: Feels a bit like Slowdive's later stuff... Love the percussion. I think that because the kick has no end, it doesn't detract from the tapped instruments. And then the choir... kind of like a marriage of tribal and modern, yeah? And the volume of your bass is perfect; I didn't even realize it was there until later in the song, that's how well it fits. What gave you the inspiration for this? (Also, thanks.)
@Specimen-Yarp: If you're still watching this thread, got some advice. The track sounds like it's clipping pretty harshly, and that's scary. Your kick sounds fine, if not a little loud, but that snare definitely needs to be brought up. Bass is freaking huge, man. But the sample isn't (and if that's intentional, great -- I like deviations like that). Also, the tempo changes are ace -- wasn't sure if you were going to keep the same synth, but I'm glad you did.
@Teknian: Why no link? If you were referring to your track Dusky, excellent as always. Believe it or not, you're part of my inspiration these days.
@BevOh: I think that everything fits together except the drums. I'd see about getting a bit of top-end into them to make them more sterile, as your bass seems pretty resonant. Weirdly specific advice -- I actually switched the two quieter sections around before uploading. Thanks for the tip; I'll switch them back.
Any comments/suggestions on the following?

kikaruu - I LOVE the intro, really atmospheric and it built beautifully. The drop is amazing too, but I think the bass should be a little bit louder. Not too much though, I like how it's a little bit below the surface. Great song, downloading for sure.
z6z - Did you just give me Ayahuasca? O_O This is a sweet song all-around, definitely trippy and chill as fuck. Good job.
blanx - Good sound design! Your bassline is pretty creative too, I like how it doesn't get annoying like most wobble tracks. I'm not a fan of the samples at all though, are they from Age of Empires or something?
The song needs a little more energy too, try adding more hats or something.
Here's mine, it's, like, Ambient Post-Dubstep or something
I think I'm gonna send it to that dude who's doing free mastering on here.

howdy yall. hope things are well.
to start off:
hudson: really cool. it sounds really spacey. drugs might be needed for a better inspection hah. but in all serious does it peak a bit? it was in my headphones but it could just be them. real quality mate.
oprs- digging it. that bass is cuttin through nice. the sample shots at the end could be a bit brighter. the badman sample is always classy. very mellow stuff. good tune for the summer.
bevoh- youre getting there mate. i find this happens to me alot. and it typically is because i am trying to hard to make something that is not natural. i really like your drums. i think you gotta turn your ambience stuff down a tad bit. its so reverberant. and then when the bass comes in it just feels empty with out it. maybe a bit of spreader or something on a channel for the bass could help the sound. its creepy with that laugh and stuff. try to do a bit more then just mess with that LFO. ionno. dont let your self get boggled down though. it helps me whne i make the bulk of my tune(least with recent stuff i havent been posting) and come back later. or sit for the whole day and bang out something.
z6z: other genres aren't always bad. and i like this. really cinematic. and im as much a fan of the track in your signature. super luscious reverbs in there.
kikaruu: track is not my style but it is very creative. feels very video game esque which i like i bout it. that bass is a chainsaw of destruction as well. dont really have a suggestion. bit hot of a mix but that never hurt any body. maybe some vocals??
blanx: well i think you are almost there. i like your bass work. the sample doesn't really fit to me. sounds a bit of a late edition ( i am always guilty of this at least).
stefevr: yeah this thing would kill a dancefloor. nuff said
manny: keep that ish going! its cool. i need to hear a bit more but your mix is on point to me.
any comments on this would be appriciated:
Soundcloud
this is me trying to get out of my comfort zone and experiment a bit. it needs another element in there somewhere, thinking percussive. thoughts or ideas?

traffek - yeah, it probably does
the mix was really quiet so i boosted the master a little, but it's a WIP so whatever.
That's a fun track, it sounds like it could be a cartoon theme song! Totally a good thing, btw. My suggestion would be to beef up your sub a little.

to everyone who gave me feedback, thanks alot.. probably some of the best advice ive ever gotten here, but one thing.. one person says drums are good and other person says drums need more top end, CONFUSING! lol but regardless thanks for the feedback n keep it coming.

z6z-- I really like your first track. It has great rhythm and the bass does sit nicely like kikaruu said. I'd like to hear some more soulful vocals though. They're nice now but you know.. Seriously though, I was trancing out while it wasplaying.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@ tek9 - you know my feelings i told you on aim but one of the sickest tunes right now
innovator
@ traffek - the bass is cool but what draws my attention is the drums and the awesome groove it has. good job and the mix sounds good to me
@ vividbeatz - give feedback to the guys bro. but i like this song has the old school feel to it, i just dont like it when you lower but thats just me, your music your decisions but good song overall
@ hudson - im really not a big fan of ambient shit but i listened to the whole song and was very calming. Reminds me of other amazing artists that make calm shit like even toro y moi when they first started. thats a good thing
@ kikakruu - the song is awesome just lower that very dominent hi hat i dont know if its a ride or something but its kinda loud and tighten up the bass but other then that, very good better then my dnb
@ z6z - some trippy shit very calming as well. im liking the little sample as well maybe put more dela or reverb but thats my taste. good job overall i like it
now for my song this time its dubstep not dnb
. so i got suspended from school and what better way then to make it productive with music eh.

Mannyyyy you completely overlooked my shit tune! haha
On the other hand urs is fresh i like the little sample that seperates the bass, sounds like someone getting stabbed? Very interesting, have enjoyed all of your stuff as of late.

@Mannyyyyy: Wicked sounding bass, but... How the heck did you make that intro?
Knife sample plus modulated pitch+bend? It just all flows together nicely. (Except, I would say rise your hats, lol. Thanks for the feedback, mate.)
@traffek: Very basic tune, in a great way. I do think, though, that a slight variation between bass patterns would be nice; perhaps a key shift at some point. (Love those synth sounds at points like 0:54 and 4:06; they break the track up nicely.) Those drums feel really nice; are you mixing samples? (Also, which track is video game-esque? I just realized I posted twice. /facepalm)
@hudson: Now that's an interesting description. Really chill, too. I think the kick might be pumping just a bit much, but nothing uber-obvious like jump-up electrohouse stuffs; it's nice. And those drums are very relaxed, even downright natural.
@vividbeatz: That bass is squelchy, mate; really neat. I think it fits well with the other synth, the melodic one. I think there should be a bit of variation in your risers. Oh, one other thing; y u no liek poastin feedback, mate?
Thanks for the help, guys!
