also his sawtooth for his reeses are unique because of the morph in albino 3. His new basses are sick though, he processes it with melodyne for formants and you can midi sequence it like a piano roll. Alot of people dont really like him on this forum, mostly because of blown subs. :dunce:

How do I get that fat, crunchy, snare-like synth? Is there any effects? It doesn't sound like there's a LFO, more like an envelope.

I think he's just doing it himself. Sounds like a throaty, quick "yee-ah!"

This is a common bass sound, reminds me of the old school Joker bass but much smoother and not as imposing. Comes in at :42.

I feel like I'm missing something easy here... My attempts with saws and tris just sounds weak.

saws? I'd try squares man, it doesn't have the hard harmonics like saws have. Envelope on the filter cutoff, turn the resonance up untill you get that "whuop" sound you're looking for. Put some chorus in and i think you're almost there...

How about the growl bass in this drop? Sounds particularly brutal/menacing.

sigh... Growl Skrillex basses: Massive's Modern talking osc and deep throat osc. Daft filter with some resonance and distortion. That's about it

I've been trying to recreate a sound similar to KOAN sounds Max out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2cHhOKYZNI and their song Risky Endeavours http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rV2Usa30 ... re=related. I am using Massive but I have not got anywhere close to their sound,
has anyone got any similar patches they can send me or any tips on how to make a similar sound?
Cheers :)

rusko sound design

Post by PotentSync » Thu Jun 02, 2011 3:54 pm

new to sound design and this forum....

a new track I heard recently made me want to learn how some of the sounds are made.

rusko-every day(nesky remix)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dD40VXFk ... ata_player

wondering what is used to create the melody in the beguiling. chords ? or ?

and for the chorus to my understanding the overlying melody is just a modified sine wave.

but then he repeats the chorus and the same sound seems to be arpeggiated or something.

just wondering if anyone has any pointers on reverse engineering

thanks in advance

love that tune. are you talking about the first chords of the arpeggiated melody?

and for the chorus, phase modulation is my first guess.

and when the chorus is repeated, it's just the same synth that has an arp over it that makes it kick between itself and the octave above at a 1/32 rate.

Learn to use the envelopes. Send them through filter cut off. I think that's it.

You could also use the KTR feature in Massive.

if your using massive just put an env on the pitch of your massive osc's where you tune them and put the env iin the little box and play with the attack and how high you want it to go :D

pretty easy once you get it and then can lead to more possibilities :D
