my first track Requiem for a Dub (RsX remix)

Post by RsX » Fri Jun 03, 2011 1:08 am

hi, guys, this is my first tune ever and i thought i would share it with you, maybe get a couple of hints and stuff from guys who know their business such as everyone around here, i'm sure! :)

I usually just mix tune together, i'm not a producer, but i thought i'd give it a shot. shall i stick with it? i thought since i have some basic piano knowledge and some more extensive guitar theory knowledge, it shouldn't be really hard... however it was more difficult than it seemed.

i have my mixes here, if anyone cares to take a look.

(hope you will excuse my english, its not my mother tongue and i'm bound to make a mistake here and there)

i'm sure it could be definitely improved... but it can't be that bad that it leaves you speechless...

Not too keen on the synths at the front of the tune, and I feel when the kick comes in it dominates the mix too much. Not sure if it's YouTube encoding, or something you've intended to do, but the kick itself is distorting like hell when I listen to it. the robotic synth that arrives at 30s or so seems out of place. I'll be honest, I've tried to listen to this all the way through, but I've had to turn it off after about a min. Again, not sure if this is YouTube or whatever, but the mixdown is coming across as atrocious, no dynamics to it whatsoever and the sound is distorting to the point where it's given me a headache.

Try uploading it to a Soundcloud account and reposting - not sure if YouTube is the best place for uploading tracks for production feedback ;)
