for my non profit organisation called Entropy.... any ideas?
was thinking about something like this:

"nicenice" on the SNHO:
When I first found this place I was like the fuck is this shit. Everytime I come back here I'm still like the fuck is this shit.

entropy is a weird name but you should use the E or e

: a measure of the unavailable energy in a closed thermodynamic system that is also usually considered to be a measure of the system's disorder, that is a property of the system's state, and that varies directly with any reversible change in heat in the system and inversely with the temperature of the system; broadly : the degree of disorder or uncertainty in a system
2
a : the degradation of the matter and energy in the universe to an ultimate state of inert uniformity b : a process of degradation or running down or a trend to disorder
3
: chaos, disorganization, randomness
kinda the opposite of a yin yang

something simple and memorable. Just using the 'E' is probably a good shout. That way you can integrate it into the main logo on your flyers.

I find symbols to be far too symbolic of ancient suppression.

yea man havin a complex logo for a night isn't such a great idea i dont think, i like the flyer, nicely designed
use the E like these say
out of interest when you say 'non-profit' is that how you're marketing the night? i only ask cos im involved in a night thats similar in concept, we break down the cost of everything for the night and set ticket prices accordingly, but we do it all publicly so everyone can see whats going on + the public have a hand in choosing the artists who get booked so they can decide how much they would pay to see x, y or z play. cool idea, good luck

in belgium an organisation can get the statute of non-profit (VZW in dutch). It basically means that you make yourself part of a new legal person. So if you ever get in trouble or go bankrupt, you personally won't have to pay anything or you can't get prison or whatever (not that doing a night might get you in jail). Basically it is the best statute for an organisation that organises between 5 or 10 events on yearly basis. It is designed for small economic activities, without for the organizers to take much risk. The thing is that you are allowed to pay yourself for the work you did. And you are allowed to make as much profit as you want if the money goes back to the organization, not the organizers. But if your economic activity get too big, you're not allowed to have that statute anymore.
So we're not using non-profit as some sort of marketing tool :p
Your concept is cool as well. We basically do the same thing only we choose the line up etc ourselves. But we're charging the people very little: 5euro (4 presale) entrance for a decent Belgian line up and Stella for 1.50€ is very good. We're aiming for 500€ above break-even to invest in our next party (bigger line up). Maybe in 3 years, we might be able to buy our own PA (a small F1 system would be awesome but not realistic ) (which we can use in our free time as well hehe)

You could get a loan and get the function one on that.... then use the profits to repay it.

yeah but who says we're still gonna do the night the next 5 years? And who says we're going to make so much profit...
at the moment we're still starting up so we'll see how it evolves the next few years.
In oktober we're going to do a night with critical records in Brussels. Line- up: One87, Rockwell, Kasra, Break
last event with nymfo and spectrasoul went pretty well so they tipped us

yeah you're right :/
my mate came up with the name but i didn't really spend time looking into what it meant. It sounded pretty cool... now i'm not sure anymore
EDIT: this is what i found
4. The problem of the “arrow of time.”
This unresolved problem in physics states that time seems to have an arrow or direction, in other words; it seems to go from present to future, in one temporal sequence. Scientists attempted to explain the direction of the arrow of time by using the second law of thermodynamics also known as the concept of entropy. Entropy loosely could be explained as the passage between 2 stages: from many to few, from “order” to “disorder” from new to old, from day to night, etc. High entropy means “many ways or lots of something” and low entropy means “few or less than something.” It is a dualism manifested in “ascending” or “descending” states. Accordingly, physical systems tend to evolve towards states of higher entropy. However, Newton’s laws (classical physics) has no built in mechanism for temporal orientation, in other words; systems not only can evolve from high to low entropy but they can do it from low to high (going to the past). Thus, the same amount of entropy which exists in the future should exist in the past since the laws of physics are time reversal symmetric. This contradiction cannot be explained in a linear vision of time without having a “double headed” arrow of time (one pointing towards the past and the other towards the future.)
This “double headed “approach is not consistent with our own experience. There is just “one arrow.”
The problem which scientists are facing is elaborated below for a better grasp of it.
The basic laws of science are insensitive to the distinction between past and future. (Time symmetric).
For example, if we have a movie of a full glass of water hit by a ball and therefore, spilling the water over the countertop, if we rewind this movie and show it, this movie will not seem logical to us, the sequence will only make sense if it goes forward but no backwards. However, if you could have a movie of a basic physical process such as two atoms bouncing off each other. If you had such a movie, you could run it forwards or backwards and both showings would illustrate a possible process according to the basic laws of science. Time's arrow isn't revealed in this microscopic process.
This is interesting since microscopic events make up larger events such as the broken glass of water; however, in the microscopic movie the time arrow is not revealed but it is on the larger macroscopic level.
Why is this so?

Entropy was the name of a 90's hardcore club in Stoke, so the E thing definitely fits!
Here's an old flyer if you were wondering what they were using:

that and something with the E
there seems to be a lot of confusion about entropy. Some say everything goes from a more ordened state to a less ordened state. Some say that some things also go from a less ordened state to a more ordened state..
