I noticed that Africa/Flapjack dub is on boomkat's site and includes this review...
Dub Police follow up Distinction's debut e.p with 3 tracks from wobblestep heroes The Others. If you've checked N-type's show recently you'll know the style, LFO tweakin subbass that induces an effect in young men between the ages of 16-30 that can be quite embarrassing to witness sometimes. 'flapjack dub' on the flip attempts to open the dubstep market up to pre-teens with a playschool bass melody that would even make the Chuckle Brothers sit down and tell the DJ to f*ck off. 'Bushido' closes the E.P with a hefty twock from Crouching Tiger, ramping up the faux emotion to make your girlfriend cry with disbelief. Ace.

does anyone else feel as though this is a bit harsh? I really like the others, and I can't wait to get this record.

Bought the record on sight.
The reviewer must be one of the chuckle bros imo.

That's the first I've seen Boomkat give something less than praise, wow.

yeah boomkat usually give praise to tunes. To be fair though, I only ever read their reviews for comedy value as it is usually such a load of convoluted
bollocks.
I just listen to the tunes, thats all the review I need

I think that's meant to be a positive review you know. And it is kind of (almost) funny.

The word "ace" must mean something. I think it's some kind of clue.

boomkat has given a bunch of weak reviews. Secede's review on his new album 'Vega Libre' was severely bashed from certain reviewers which I thought was quite the opposite from what I listened to it. Its now changed from the previous review though. Boomkat's reviews are like KMFDM lyrics, takes like 5 minutes to write. Nonsense, I listen to the track, and decide if I like it or not.

Ace means really good. I think they were trying to be funny about the track. No need to get all precious about it. Most of the reviews on Boomkat are gushing fan boy bolloks that don't seem to have any thing to do with the tracks. It's not as if they are indipendent and have no interest in selling the product, is it now.
BOOMKAT.
This record is really shit and we don't want to sell it so, don't bye it.
Not gonna happen is it?

In it? Jesus, it's as if dubstep is incapable of producing a bad tune.

http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=21237
(don't know if it's actually supposed to be there, the mp3 has a different and better review)

I heard Flapjack Dub and thought it was hilarious (if it's the one I was thinking of). I love stupid basslines (old skool jungle lines particularly) so I don't think that's necessarily an insult - try making a tune that puts a smile on people's faces once in a while. Makes a change from the usual po-faced, over-serious gothstep that bores the shit out of me ("yeah, put in that muezzin wail so I can swim in waves of contemplation, Tarquin. Oh and maybe some whale noise?").
They've beaten themselves into a masturbatory froth about records that I've thought were shite before, shortly before the circle jerkin hit in here - I didn't buy them cause everyone else thought they were good and I might well buy them if they think it's shit. It's not like you don't have the option to listen and make up your own mind.
Woo don't wike my favewit band

Hmm....
