Re: Does anyone know what Zomboy uses?
His stuff sounds great. Slightly squashed mind you
But unfortunately a lot of the sounds in there are reprocessed samples from skrillex songs and also 'synth' sounds from the 'VA' sample packs. Easily cut a sound from a skrillex track, and whack it into kontakt.
Of course i'm not saying 'Sampling is wrong!', sampling is absolutely fantastic, but when sampling something and then using it in the same context, I don't agree with at all. Kinda putting a middle finger up at the other producers who spend hours creating a bass sound.

You recon he sliced them out of a Skrillex tune [or whatever]?
Sampling is okay to a point... if he engineered them himself then good man because he's nailed it.
If they're sampled...

Re: Does anyone know what Zomboy uses?
I'm not saying everything is sampled, but yes a lot of samples have been used.
zomboy's tune 'dirty disco' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVn7CVvIKW8 @ 0.51 he has sampled the 'roaawr' sound from Skrillex's La roux remix and bulked it down 2 semitones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emu0vQ4bUiw @ 1.36
I didn't find this out by the way, I saw someone posted it on youtube. There are some other examples, but i'm not going to trape through a load of skrillex tunes finding time locations
But then listening to his tunes like 'P.A.R.T.Y' i just find it odd where you have all of these amazing sounds throughout the song, and then you come to '3.46' where a very kinda basic wobble comes in which you can tell he has made, but i don't know, sounds a bit odd.
Anyway I'm not hating, he is a talented songwriter, and has/will probably blow up, just me personally I don't agree with his techniques, and I'm sure a lot of other producers won't either. But he makes good listening

I tried to get him to help me make the 'skrillex gargle' but he said something like 'no, that's my sound... If I tell you how to make it everyone will sound like me'.

Either way he is a soulless being, copying another soulless being. The outcome will never be good...Filthzilla wrote:What... no... really?arkade978 wrote:His stuff sounds great. Slightly squashed mind you![]()

In fact if he sampled them, he would of shown some intelligence, because he is going to end up with the same either way so why not???
So he would be a intelligent soulless being, not a stupid soulless being, thats got to be better right???
If you want to sound like skrillex, just sample him ffs, save yourself some time, and effort.

I'm glad you find this amusing..Just because I'm curious and I want to know what he and pretty much all other dubstep producers are using doesn't make me unoriginal and it doesn't mean that I want to copy their sound/style if that's what you were implying, because I am JUST curious.Pedro Sánchez wrote:Fucking zomboyfuck out of here.

Are you Josh's flatmate Skit? + Do you live in Guilford?harrywolfman1 wrote:I live with Zomboy, his names Josh and he's playing tonight at London's ministry of sound, if any of you guys are londoners come down and i'll introduce you and tell you all his dirty secrets. put your name on our wall for guestlist, £5 entry, http://www.facebook.com/wolfstockevents
I'm pretty sure if he was playing the Ministry he would be hyped and not in the mood to go into producing techniques. ;L
Re: Does anyone know what Zomboy uses?
No that was his other roommate at the time harry. Im Skit and I can tell you zomboy doesnt sample other peoples basses its not that hard to make skrillex scary monsters type roar's. I got pretty close with automating the carbon waveforms in massive and using some simple distortion , band pass filters and wow filter by sugarbytes.
Re: Does anyone know what Zomboy uses?
Is there any different in sampling it, and making some thing totally the same as it?SKITSTEP wrote:No that was his other roommate at the time harry. I will answer that with my other post in this thread

Re: Does anyone know what Zomboy uses?
Seems to me that there are only 5 possibilities in a situation like this.
- Skrillex gave Zomboy his presets.
- Zomboy gave Skrillex his presets.
- Zomboy sampled from Skrillex.
- Skrillex sampled from Zomboy.
- Skrillex is Zomboy.
- Skrillex gave Zomboy his presets.
- Zomboy gave Skrillex his presets.
- Zomboy sampled from Skrillex.
- Skrillex sampled from Zomboy.
- Skrillex is Zomboy.
