frank ocean and the weeknd have nothing to do with htdw. so lazy.say_whut wrote:How to Dress Well - his album "Love Remains" is fantastic, and is deservedly linked with The Weeknd and Frank Ocean as the leaders of the new kind of RnB. I know how much of you lot hate on RnB but this album is great, and so is The Weeknds.
robin tri angle will back me up on this.

im thinking hes saying they have similar influences? rather than them knowing each other or anythingtom_lea wrote:frank ocean and the weeknd have nothing to do with htdw. so lazy.say_whut wrote:How to Dress Well - his album "Love Remains" is fantastic, and is deservedly linked with The Weeknd and Frank Ocean as the leaders of the new kind of RnB. Re: Witch House
ocean and the weeknd are both straight-up rnb dudes with major label connections and tumblr accounts.
htdw is a guy making totally different music, which happens to be very rnb influenced. yeah there are some shared aesthetics (between the weeknd and htdw, anyway) but not as many as people make out. they really dont sound anything alike.

Re: Witch House
Yeah, I wasn't meaning to explicitly link them, I mean that they are seen as the front of the new wave of R&B perhaps. The Weeknd moreso, they have recieved large exposure through Drake.hutyluty wrote:im thinking hes saying they have similar influences? rather than them knowing each other or anythingtom_lea wrote:frank ocean and the weeknd have nothing to do with htdw. so lazy.say_whut wrote:How to Dress Well - his album "Love Remains" is fantastic, and is deservedly linked with The Weeknd and Frank Ocean as the leaders of the new kind of RnB. Re: Witch House
“It’s an open ended album, and I think individuals should make their own meaning of it so that it is something actually real to them. It’s not classical music, but in the tradition of a classical work like a Bach Cello Suite, I see it as more of a whole musical piece with themes/motifs/ideas reoccurring throughout, connecting the tracks together as opposed to simply being a collection of songs that sit next to each other in isolation. It’s also an album that should be listened to loudly.”hutyluty wrote:Soundcloud
