See I got an A&H but I still can't get rid of the kicks...if I use the filter...it just sounds lo-fi.

i like how the kicks break through on footcrab, fair enough it can sound very shit when mixed with certain tunes but i like it

they just seem to bounce around in the background filling all the gaps, i like it

with footcrab its all about finding other tunes with the same kick pattern; i go trg - less music into footcrab into mountain dread march and then ejaculate everywhere

YES!

Very new to DJing, but I *love* mixing Boddika. First time I tried I mixed Electron with Footcrab. You know when out of nowhere everything fits together perfectly even though you're just messing about and it sounds so good you just have to get up and wile out even though you're in the living room on your own and your flatmate is doing the washing up in the kitchen? That.

whats everyones beef with disko rekah? its not too difficult to mix.

kryptic minds distant and wondering why are bastards though. really weird hi-hats on both of them that never sit right with other tunes.

and them snares in disko rekah :u:
lol sheff you have an unhealthy hatred for thses snares.

I always think footcrab is quite hard to sound good when mixing.

Good
Silkie - head butt da deck
Rob Sparx - Trooper
Kryptic minds- arcane

Bad
Neverland - i seem to struggle massively with this
Like was said before a lot of Coki tunes
if you have a robust mixer footcrab is nice cos you can bang it about cuttin it in until it feels comfortable to drop

one of my favourites is Claptrap - Joe

can basically drop it on the any beat in a 4 beats per bar track and it changes the entire feel of the mix, also been working on stopping it mid mix and then just letting go on a different beat to instantly change track, im not good enough to get it right all the time but i'll get it soon, sounds ill when you get it right with the right track and its perfect to drop in when you need to fill space in a track to a breakdown or sumat. one of my favourite vinyls!

tunes i hate mixing:

not many, The Boxer by Pinch always seems to catch me out, just dont think it sounds that great in the mix

OH YEH and Just Vybe - DVA is a horrible tune to mix, vocal is way too loud and always sounds fucked up in the mix, so mid-heavy... love the track though

oh yes the anaconda guerachero remix is another tricky one, those weird triplety rhythms are hard to make sit well with other stuff

The breakdown (and for that matter, the intro) on this are slightly too long which makes it a pain in the ass to mix well. Still love it though.

DISTANT!!! :h: :h: forgot about that tune... once you know how to mix Distant, and your ears are used to hearing the right cues it gets easier... try Distant into DJ Madd - Someone (not breakage remix) if you really wana challenge, if you can make that sound good :Q: :Q: hats off to you mate!

claptap ill agree with that.... so much fun to mix, all that percussion going on. the b side level crossing is great as well. gives something a bit different.... i find when i drop it and its just going on its own people kind of take a breather, and if you drop it swiftly into another banger they go mental!

i LOVE mixing voyeur as well... just have to pitch it up a bit like he said earlier! makes a good bridge from 140 to 130 if you pitch it back down again during the breakdown.

recent ones iv really enjoyed mixing have also included:

this is it - addison groove
instra:mental - thomp
always loved Iron soul - Wow, wicked garage tune to mix. think that or the flipside has been in every set of mine for the past year or so
Royal t - that one on the quality street ep cant remember the name right now.... hot ones? second track
footcrab... did have diffuculty with it at first but once you got it its great fun. the key with this jukey stuff is listening out for the percussion that marks the beat more prominently. still wish the vip was on wax though
pretty much any spooky tune
silkie-wonder
virgo - hypnotiq (classic ill standardly still drop that)

struggled with
work it -ramadanman
some bassline garage remix of a sean paul tune.... drops too early or too late. fucking annoying
n type- compass on simples wichever one on that one is by him... not sure why. need to draw for it a bit more and figure it out.

This is it is SO much fun to mix, wish it didn't have a breakdown, really affects the tune i think, it should just build and build and slowly ease out at the end i think, but fuck it, such a great tune

heard some Addison Groove tune the other day he played at SxSW and it made me think of Limewax... although he's doing this Juke/Electro thing, the heavier tracks have percussion that reminds me of that old Therapy shit, with the acid stabs and relentless drums... i'll find a link

it was this weirdly enough

I like mixing Coki tunes as well, not that I ever get a chance to drop too many in a set.
