I agree with you 100%Skrew wrote:You can all hate on me and troll but I don't like Skrillex at all. Yes, he has the sickest sounds around, but he has no rythem or structure. His songs are chopped up WAY too much and I just never could get a feel for it.
Rusko is my all time fave. He is amazing live and always has a great groove. I like his new just as much as his old.
+ 10 respect, get dat 1000.
I love Rusko's new work. He's a consistent producer to me.

Sad part is, Skrillex first entered the music biz as a singer for a shitty emo band. /fp

don't want to sound like a crotchety old dubstep head, but skrillex has almost nothing to do with dubstep. he's influenced by electro house andpop punk while coopting a few elements from the brostep side of things, whereas proper dubstep is in the tradition of hardcore rave, jungle, uk garage, grime and so on.

ya i'm just annoyed that every thread devolves into a ~skrillex chat session~ when he's in a whole different continuum if you look at it objectivelymonkfish wrote:Don't have to tell us twice.glottis5 wrote:don't want to sound like a crotchety old dubstep head, but skrillex has almost nothing to do with dubstep. he's influenced by electro house andpop punk while coopting a few elements from the brostep side of things, whereas proper dubstep is in the tradition of hardcore rave, jungle, uk garage, grime and so on.

yea man haven't you heard "Sultan of Swing" "Lets Get Ill" by jantsen? same sounds and a lot of people like it
Re: Rusko sound still "in"?
The genre of Skrillex doesn't really matter.
If you listen to dubstep, you know of Skrillex.

Wasn't feeling Rusko's new album as much as his older stuff, Hold On is good though. Always will be one of my favourite producers still.

I still like to drop it sometimes, fuck the hype

Re: Rusko sound still "in"?
I really liked OMG. Not as dubstep though, a lot of it was good music. His older stuff was fantastic though.
I think he's doing a good thing for dubstep, especially after revealing he did not work with Britney Spears and is not a fan of the noise step scene rapidly developing.
As far as the whole American/Canadian dubstep sound goes, I think it has massive club playability and is more likely to get people hooked on dubstep, of any form. Outside of a dancefloor though I find it quite hard to listen to Datsik, Downlink, Skrillex, etc. etc. at length. They are all good producers in their own right, but it's music with a different effect than where dubstep came from. Skrillex is best in very small doses though. Too much noise, not a good thing.

dancefloors need diversity. all one thing or another is no good. I'm hyped to see what mala will be spinning in nyc. Never been to a DMZ whatsoever
