like this: Apogee Rosetta 200 - 2 Channel 24-bit/192K AD/DA Converter
http://www.studiocare.com/store/index.p ... bou80b7gl1

A converter Improves the Sound Quality to be the best. the better the converter the cleaner your sound.

£1568.40 (inc. VAT)
Good lord.

I've never used one, and tbh haven't ever had any complaints about my sound quality.

Ah, so in answer to the question "What Converters do you guys use here?", my answer should've been "The ones in my soundcard", correct?

Burr Browns built into my Decks, that is when I really care.

I havent found better converters than Burrs and lots of people swear by them so why not.

this thread is either scary shit or pure trolling ...

can't believe im actually adding up to this... but it reminded me of a horrendous 17 version of myself willing to inject crazy amount of money into my dreams so i could make it like the big boys right away because i was ready to "walk the extra mile noone was ready to walk"... (op may be unlike that, but i was)

converters will mainly help you if you use hardware/external sources for your sounds ...

when people talk about the "quality of a soundcard" they often mix things up like preamps and converters...

op, deducing from your blatant lack of knowledge concerning the subject, id strongly dis-recommend using any type of budget converter... you would probably use it wrong.

and no skrillex doesn't use a rosetta, im pretty sure.

/toughlove.

i'll let you in on a little secret. stainberg MR816 blows converters twice it's price out of the water.

i'm all for quality gear, i've tried it and it works.

I am using the Duet too, anyone who needed to ask about converters should simply invest in this unit (if Mac), you will be blown away by the quality and it takes time to train your ear to hear it so dont just a/b really quick unless you know whats up

P.S. I am updating to the DUET2 !!!!! woot, will post my opinion is wanted.

Also @joey in the studio I work at we have a Lavry Gold which sounds AWESOME
and we just picked up a Millenia preamp (not a converter I know) but I have never heard such clean beauty from a preamp until this beast: http://www.proaudio.com/product_info.ph ... ts_id=5685

^ was hesitating betweeen lavry and symphony io. your thougts?

did u try both??? i hear symphony has different converters then duet, and they're apparently nicer.

i really want to buy once and for all :D.

now i still need to do this for the noobs :
understand that converters won't change anything to what's happening inside the software. if you stay in the softworld, the only advantage of conversion would be better playback quality (more accuracy in playback).

i.e. : headphone jack of a symphony io > headphone jack of your shitty laptop sound interface.

just to make it clear.
