now is the time to buy one because they are now quad core. i need a new macbook pro because it cant handle my mix downs. also depends on how much processing you do. i mix down large bands so i need a quad but it all depends

The new mbp's are very nice. The new sandy bridge stuff is great as well, significantly faster than the old core 2 stuff.
The ivy bridge is due out next year so we are roughly halfway through the product cycle. Thats when I plan to upgrade my system.
I think 17" will be overkill size wise, you can get 1080p monitors for fuck all these days.
Also fuck the haters!
