That's what I spent my weekend doing.
It helps a lot, when i first started i was really into dnb, like current value and the likes, recreated dark rain and it was a really big help in getting to grips with that distorted metallic drum sound i wanted to work with, plus it helped me get to grips with vocal processing and reese basses.
But yea, been messing around trying to mix that sort of minimal dnb percussive sound with my own crispy panned stuff, was fairly unsuccessful yesterday, but things are picking up now I think. Fairly boring weekend.

Nova3 is a MIDI sequencer plugin that generates MIDI sequences based on a set of rovers that move through a matrix emitting notes when they strike a wall and changing directions when they encounter obstacles and other rovers.
I've managed a 16 bar loop that I'm happy with since I last posted - reckon might try and develop it over the course of the morning and see where it ends up

Hate it when that happens. I had a hardcore day at work yesterday so decided to give my ears and brain the night off and just watched a Jason Statham film instead
Feeling a lot better for it today though - the quiet night, not the JS film

Ok, 16 bar loop. Got a beat, bit laid back but good. Nice sub pattern going on through, some pads to give it some movement and just added a subtractive synth pattern thing for some flavour.
Copy the drum pattern twice so I've got three copies of it, then slight varation on the drum programming to drop in every 4 bars to keep the beat varied. Going very well this is
This weekend my girlfriend is away so I have all weekend to make tunes...I'm making hazy, woozy atmospheric...stuff, lots of lowpassed, overrdriven reverbs and the like, a la:
If anyone has any tips on making things extra hazy, it would be much appreciated...

So how we all doing? I spent most of the weekend thus far working on a track, have solved the issue I was having with the opening percussion, but now have stumbled upon an issue with the hi hats that start after the drop. They're either sitting too starkley in the mix, or else they're sitting right, but are noticeably robotic sounding.
Tried switching up the programming, changing the samples etc etc but nothing seems to be working.
