French dubstep imprint Lutetia Dubz return with a superb new doubleheader that draws on quality beats from artists both in the UK and Russia….

Lutetia Dubz is establishing itself as a label to keep a firm eye on with recent releases from label boss Nibe and US West Coast duo Babylon System gaining great support. Now the imprint strikes out with a split artist EP, bringing on board some diverse talent from around the world.

The release kicks off with ‘I Need Ya’ from Brighton based producers Riskotheque & Marchmellow. Riskotheque comes fresh from a string of high profile releases for labels such as Ninja Tune, Disfigured Dubs and Boka and Marchmellow is the brains behind most of the much-loved Dub & Run series. For ‘I Need Ya’ the pair have crafted a superb slice of broken beat, bass heavy soul with a definite summer feel to it. A rolling b-line and flowing percussion provide the base for emotive pads, key stabs and some brilliantly infectious vocals, quality stuff.

The second part of the release sees two tracks from Saint Petersburg producer Blasta, a man who has been making electronic music for over a decade, releasing an album on Argon and running the reknown Rising Lion Sounsystem in his home city.

The first of the two cuts, ‘Only One’, takes things down a deep and dubby route with the emphasis on some intense sub bass, subtle melodic elements and laid back drum programming. This is chilled and hypnotic dubstep, beautifully delivered. ‘Only One’ is followed up with ‘Ain’t No’, a deep and vibing cut with some rather familiar vocals, quality stuff.

More excellence from Lutetia Dubz and 3 producers who are on fire, enjoy!
