One of those things I don't really 'get' and seems rather pointless.

what they did to PBS website was definately a hack.... they put that tupac was alive and living in new zealand !!! lol kiwi-pac
Re: Lulzsec vs 4chan (anon)
They also wouldn't be cracking networks and data to release people's private and sensitive infos. Crackers =/= hackers.Capture pt wrote: a legitimate/proper hacker group wouldn't ever get caught, ever. they sneak in without detection and most definatly don't make press releases.
That's like a 2 decade long brostep vs dubstep thing though lol.
Re: Lulzsec vs 4chan (anon)

LulzSec The Lulz Boat
Ryan Cleary is not part of LulzSec; we house one of our many legitimate chatrooms on his IRC server, but that's it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf7iBSX9bFU

I didn't have a clue what lulzsec was until this thread or 4chan until I was on this forum. I'm surprised by people in this thread talking about all this 4chan stuff like it's normal? Do you not feel embarrassed about being associated with that stuff?
I didn't know what a forum was until I joined here and all these words and "Internet lingo" which seems to of come from 4chan or places similar is weird to me.
I don't get it

forums, ubb, alt.music, etc were all there was on the internet in the early days outside of encyclopedias and irc.
4chan and forums are the purest forms of the internet imo. It's just random people talking about whatever they want anonymously. People are too attached to their online lives. Randomly calling someone an idiot and posting a pic of a guy with a nail through his balls is about as pure as internet useage gets.

If you're looking for something more meaningful than idle entertainment, you're likely replacing your real life with something online. Which can't be healthy.

Those Ddos attacks always appealed to me though.. how they all get together on the board and they actually
put time and effort into taking down a website. Put if it's just random targets that don't do anything wrong it seems useless.
Just read chan and lulzsec aren't at 'war' at all though.

No, most of us are nerds.Hibbie wrote:I didn't have a clue what lulzsec was until this thread or 4chan until I was on this forum. I'm surprised by people in this thread talking about all this 4chan stuff like it's normal? Do you not feel embarrassed about being associated with that stuff?

Some of us take pride in it.
EDIT: It's the same way that someone might have sports knowledge, or I HOPE everyone here has some musical knowledge...
So some of us know about internet culture/trends. No shame in that.
