Yeah, but those people don't even know the difference in musical styles in the first place. Anything electronic is going to be "Techno" to them...

America does have the funniest ravers...

What you're missing in the equation is how venues and shows are completely different in the US than the UK. The UK is almost entirely made of club shows or festivals. Their club shows are usually one genre, or one genre and a closely related sister genre (dnb and dubstep, dubstep and grime, etc)

In the US our average weekend show is usually 2 or 3 headliners, often times of varying genres with openers of even more random genres. So if you're going to see your favorite headliner often times you'll be mixed in with other crowds. That happens a lot less in the UK

Our dubstep only shows are usually random weeklies with spotty attendance and only mildly big named artists.

That's kinda how a lot of americans feel about what europeans call "house" in their countries. Tho the 'everything is techno' shit died in the very early 00's when mainstream american found out the difference between trance/house/breaks/etc.

Big country, lots of idiots

Yeah, thats hitting the nail on the head right there. Most people I know would listen to any 4x4 synthy shit they can get their hands on, just because its "techno". I would assume about 95% of Tiesto's money comes from that sort of thing.

Yeah. I think another word for "mainstreamers" would be "the vast majority of Americans", though.

RANDOM!!!
I'm talking about A Dubstep DJ playing then a Techno DJ then an electro dj then a drum and bass dj then a breaks DJ.

This is how a 'rave' looks like in the US.

Headliners: Hardcore, Prog House, Electro,

Openers Techno, Electro, Psy Trance, Trance, Breaks, Breaks, DNB, Dubstep, Psychedelic

To me that is random

I meant "Americans" as in "people where I am", not to differentiate between Brits and Americans, Mr Assumptions.

Shame on you :a:
And how will you inquire into a thing when you are wholly ignorant of what it is? Even if you happen to bump right into it, how will you know it is the thing you didn't know?

very sorry to tell you that last dmz was very suprising to me:

glowsticks, aggro-teenage boys with too much testosterone, half naked 'dancing' pogo. less stupid furry boots girls - actually almost no girls. quite a sausage party it was.
musicwise: not suuuuuch a huuuge difference unfortunatly. skream didn't play such a different set.

it's a global thing i guess - probably a little more extreme and more stupid at this strange academy bullshit - but not such a huge differnce, innit?

we need less dick music - more soul music!!!

Skrillex does electro house now doesn't he? Never heard of the others but I think skrillex himself is pretty random from what I've seen/heard.
