how can they not let me in... I already paid. That's how it works with the big clubs around here.

Or is it not possible to buy tickets pre-hand in this case?
not possible ;-)
(in most cases i think...) some special concerts do have a presale i think... jamie woon or james blake was with tickets i think...

sounds proper strict!

Sounds proper shit. Fare doos I haven't been so I cant write it off but most places with such a code of conduct and dress to get in, in london anyway, are quite pony. Wearing shoes and a poofy scarf to get in to a club seems shit as well.

Id rather stand in a dark room with people who aren't judged on what they look like or what they wear. I find the people and experiences at such places to be far better.

I think they just want to make sure they don't get any trouble in their club. It's quite a highly praised club though, when I go to Berlin, I'll definitely try to get in.

that's not what berghain is like. the door selection exists so that the club isn't full of wankers, or at least, is less full of wankers than it ought to be, given its popularity. the vibe in there is absolutely nothing like fabric, for example. at the risk of coming across like a tool, if you get in, you'll understand why the entrance policy is such a good thing.

BTW, fridays are generally not as difficult since they're generally booked by a 3rd party promoter (e.g. substance, leisure system, etc).

when i say "difficult"... it's not difficult. christ. just don't be obviously fucked, obviously touristy or obviously square. and for god's sake don't be a big group of guys in dress-up shirts and loafers. you're far more likely to get turned away for wearing river island shite than for showing up in a hoodie and cap.

i'd rather have a door selection policy than a dozen bouncers in hi-vis jackets patrolling around the dancefloor.

What's so special about Berghain? Lots of people are admiring it like there's no tomorow. I've heard it got a bit of history in house music and all that, but still.
Can't see why it would be any better, than say, Fuse in Brussels. But I'm probably not seeing something obvious.

I went to the Sub:stance birthday on Friday, and I can honestly say it was definitely the best clubbing experience I've ever had... Fuck it, the best night of my life so far :P
Amazing club, amazing (and very international) crowd, and obviously really good music. Almost passed out after Scuba's 3hr set, but it was so worth it! Left at about half 11, I think...
Oh, and they weren't too strict on the door. They refused pretty much all groups bigger than 4, some people who were pretty drunk, and some (I don't know how to describe this any better XD) guys who looked like they just went to the club to pull some girls :P And the very loud/annoying Dutch girls who were standing behind me in the queue ;)
But yeah, if you go to Berlin, check out Berghain. So worth it.

no, they want you to handle your drugs responsibly

being off your face before you walk into a club is bad form, especially when the club goes on from friday night til monday afternoon

That I completely understand, but the way the article on the first page talks, being slightly drunk but acting sober is okay while BEING on drugs (no mention of how youre handling it) is a no no. Though, I'm probably reading too far into it

I think if you are not a twat then you should be good, which makes a refreshing change from most clubs

Being drunk isn't ok, obviously being on drugs isn't either (at least on the door). Once you get in, you can pretty much do whatever you want, and there are quite a lot of drugs around ;)
