A mate of mine got his shoulder blade fractured for "nothing" and then it turned out that he'd basically been chucking pints at people, calling the doormen stnuc and shoving glasses off the bar.

Not saying there's not cunty doormen out there, but ffs....
Yeah same in my expirience. The trouble is doormen tend to kick piss heads out and piss heads tend not to remember how much of a twat they can be when thier pissed.

in my door days on friday nights we used to have hip hop backed with rnb at this nice little bar in manhattan. one night a group of local ladies from the neighborhood, decided to come thru. as we always did, we patted them down lightly...pant legs, waist, and purse, nothing more. gents would get hats off, shirts, pants, belts, socks, boots off if they had boots. usually we were looking for switches, boxcutters, small knives or something bigger. this was the days before the metal wand detectors which they use now.
anyways, this group of 6 or so 5ft hispanic ladies came early and got increasingly drunk, to the point of rowdy vibes. no biggie, except when some idiot went too far and grabbed at one of the girls. we had to come in and break it up and separate the two groups fighting, so that we could figure out which group to throw out. this all happened very quickly and the head of security chose to throw out the pack of girls. after some more heated words and taunting, these girls agreed to leave. they all went to coat check on the way out. one of them, whilst putting on her jacket , dropped a 12inch ghurka knife out of her jacket's lining and right onto the floor in front of all of us and her friends......:o :o :o :o

this is a blade that resembles a bloody sugar cane machete type thing for those indiana jones moments.

this lady was one of the bigger sized ladies of the group so naturally, she had more body mass to hide such a huge thing. needless to say we called the police, because anything over 5 inches is illegal here. she got taken away and we never saw her again. one of the other bouncers ended up being fired over it, for not patting her down enough.

this should be a nice little wake up call to all the pinch and grab massive that frequent clubs. you might end up pinching the wrong ass, and catch the good side of a machete.

and you people want to go out to places without security? r u mad?

Living in Japan I forgot that bouncers exist....only got them in the very dodgiest places (i.e. really busy clubs where loads of foreigners go to pick up Japanese birds)

Word. I bounced at a hip-hop club, up until a few months ago. Everyone, especially the ladies (ah yeah), would always say "you're the nicest bouncer." This is because I never once threw a punch. Even with the most shit-talking drunk of them, I would rationalize and get them to leave, without any violence from them or me. However, and I'm not bragging though, I bench around 420, so maybe that's why it was easier for me. The problem is that my other bouncer friends love to fight, which is why they signed on for the job in the first place. They would do bad, bad things to people who didn't deserve it, at the first sign of trouble; no rationalizing, just all of them attacking, for any small reason. And they got away with it. The bottom line is that bouncers often have a reason to attack, but it's almost always unnecessary. Fight with the mind.
