tnx for the feedback guys.

can WI2 or someone explain what "camel phattening" is?! maybe then i can add some ;-) how is the bass requiring mastering (or this mysterious camel) ... what lacking with it? I am usually ok with the low end on my system ... but everything can always be made to improve. i think this one is using a triangle wave - maybe that's why not as phat as some would like?

I did think the snare was a bit crummy - but only spotted it when I was listening on headphones after i converted to the 320.

I fixed up the bass and drums a little and re-uploaded this track to

http://vx.autonomous.org/320s/hell/HalfStepInHell.mp3

The old URL at the start of the thread doesn't work any more.

i think the new version is better... the bassdrum kick in the beginning, did you just make it louder or compress it?

all in all i think it will be more exciting when you make the song a bit shorter...

so far

both, it's both louder and compressed.

shorter? I'll do the "radio edit" later. ;-)

easy. liking the riff/melody

drums feel a bit too simple and very repetitive, but not imo a good way.

the kicks also feel too quiet and a bit weak (on my system at least) and don't have the amount of punch I'd expect them to. Loving the melody/riff. Really really nice. Get those drums a bit more livelier and you're onto a winner. That riff is something else.

other than that. top work mate.

Yeah I am listening to it on my home stereo now (as opposed to the studio system) and I think the sub-bass is actually sucking the life out of the bottom end of the compressor. The kick drum sound is not very ... crisp ? ... which it needs to be to compete with the heavy bottom end - it's a bit mushy anyway. I'll have another go at it today. Also listening to it myself I think it needs some cymbals or other top end percussion which might lift the drums up a bit.

There yas go ... Edited version with a bit more definition in the kick drum and a bit more drum programming;

Sick tune!!
The drums do sound alittle bare (no sizzling highhats or snare) imho
I love the hookline and also the quirky sqeaks & bleepy sounds.
BIG UP MANG
