How about you elaborate on what controls you usually tweak?

Re: iZotope Ozone 4! AMAZING FOR MASTERING!
its sick has a limiter, eq, dynamics, harmonic exciter, mastering reverb, and stereo imager. Presets sound pretty cool. I use the dynamics and the limiter for other channels all the time cuz it sounds awesome. I def reccommend it too

No it sucks compared to an actual mastering house's job

Re: iZotope Ozone 4! AMAZING FOR MASTERING!
I use ozone 4 and it is a very nice tool to have in my tool belt. I concede it will never sound as good as a proper master house doing the job, but in the context of writing, producing and then being able to reasonably master your own tracks it becomes well worth the buy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMFq0c0T ... r_embedded I use this tutorial/tech for self mastering my tracks to use them in my dj sets when i play out. It allows me to get a decent sounding track in a minimal amount of time. I personally like to match eq of my favorite bass heavy cali producer and i like my end results and my tracks can bang out now.
But im not a pro so this is just my opinion of the product.

Re: iZotope Ozone 4! AMAZING FOR MASTERING!
i hate it, it kills all the dynamics, ducks the shit out of it, and makes the highs sound like screaming banshees, at least thats what the presets do, it turned me off to try to make my own presets, putting a light compressor with a limiter on the master yielded much better results, at least to my liking.
HOWEVER, if it had a "brostep" preset, shit would be going down
kidding

I think if you use it correctly it can be very powerful.
The problem is that it will result in you producing sub-par tracks that you`ll always need to send through Ozone to get the sound even close to what you want.
What you should do is create separate mix downs with ozone on and off for reference.
Listen to the tracks on as many systems as possible to hear what you should alter in your mixes, to create a good bassline mix.
Once you have are happy with what you want the track to sound like, go back to your track, remove ozone and recreate the mix down yourself.
It will be a benefit to you in the end and if you still choose to use ozone, you`ll know ozone is doing a small amount of work rather than all the work.
Focus on your own skills rather.
Open ozone, find a setup that suites you best and copy it with std eq principles, studio widening, delays, etc.
Just use ozone as the reference.
It really will improve your eq skills 10 fold to try and eq yourself with Ozone as the reference.

Never really use it anymore, was good when I needed stuff done fast for previews etc.
Using several different things now to do my masters.

thankyou for that! i'll take that into consideration. you have really good points here, i might do that when my new dnb track is done! thanks again buddy!Electric_Head wrote:I think if you use it correctly it can be very powerful.

Re: iZotope Ozone 4! AMAZING FOR MASTERING!
When I started using ozone it was all presets.
I would remove ozone and just get shocked by what a bad eq job I had done.
That`s where I stopped using ozone and instead learned from it.
When I got to the point that all ozone was doing was maybe adding volume, I realized I had outgrown it.
In many cases now I find it ruins my sound.
It just takes everything and hard clips it.

yeh i noticed that it took ALOT of dynamics and power out of my reese bass in my last dnb track, so devElectric_Head wrote:When I started using ozone it was all presets.

i use it as a multipurpose processing/fx tool on problematic channels...
i use it a lot on hihats... and i especially love the exciter/stereo enhancing tools...
i love the fact that it allows multiband treatment, soloing and bypassing.. its a proper tool and the mix % (amount) value is a big perk too...
i would never use one of its presets...

I love it man, it came with pro tools (which i have literally never used except for the mbox it came with). Are you guys saying you're creating and mixing with ozone on? other than using it as an individual plugin, i would imagine that would be counterproductive, at least for me. I found it extremely helpful to get a decent-sounding master once i got the mix right. the only thing have on the master when I'm mixing is a light amount of compression. Also, I haven't tried out flatblaster yet but my friend swears by it. Hopefully the name is misleading.

^ozone is meant to be a mastering tool.

Re: iZotope Ozone 4! AMAZING FOR MASTERING!
I don't find it a CPU hog at all - I tend to use it selectively on my sub-groups/busses. The only thing I'm not as happy with is the maximiser seems to introduce a level of "grain" that you have to watch carefully, Waves L3 Ultramaximiser seems to do a crisper job, for me at least

omg! Flatblaster is really, really great. Honestly. It's flatblaster 2 now and it is really good.Manic Harmonic wrote:I love it man, it came with pro tools (which i have literally never used except for the mbox it came with). Did I mention that it is really great?
