Bit of an issue with NI Massive and FL Studio

Post by Flynn » Sat Jun 25, 2011 5:16 am

Before you read on, I understand that there have been threads regarding FL Studio and NI Massive, and I understand they aren't the greatest programs, compatibility-wise.

Now, here's my issue. I've my icon, NI Massive, on my desktop. Load it up, it loads up 1.1.5, sweeto.
Now, I open FL Studio and I try to open up NI Massive through there. It loads up 1.1.3, a previous version I had.

I've transfered over MassiveDXi.dll to the FL Studio folder where the VSTs (i know where it goes, I don't feel like typing it all out), but still no dice.

Does anyone know what seems to be the issue?

EDIT: This might not be the right section, but it seemed like the best place to put a HELP thread :p

Are they legit? My Massive works fine with FL Studio and has done since FL7. Both Legit.

If so, do a full reinstall of Massive.

Both are legit. I'll try this now.

EDIT: Nope, still getting 1.3 loading up.

FL and massive go together like peanut butter and chocolate, peanut butter and jelly... wait, why does peanut butter go so well with a variety of things...?

ah,

so massive, sounds like something got all messed up. I'd do a search in your vst directory for the word massive, perhaps you have two .dll's in there, maybe one hidden away in a folder. When you go to channels, more, how many massives are listed? I'm hoping only one.

Either way I'd uninstall massive. Like really uninstall it, not through the .dll away. Do a system level search for massive, make sure there are no massive buggers hiding out somewhere. And then reinstall. If 1.1.3 or whatever still shows up, fl may be looking in another folder for the .dll. Ask about it over on the IL forums, if they are no help, contact NI customer support. I've had installation issues with several NI products (what is the problem with those people?) and had my issues resolved relatively easily.

Best of luck.

There's only one listed in channels, and there's only one .dll.

However, I took the .dll out of the folder and put it on my desktop, and STILL found NI Massive in my channels. Curious, I loaded it up and without the .dll, it loaded up 1.3.

This is very strange. How can there be no MassiveDXi.dll in ANYWHERE in my FL Studio folders, but it loads up NI Massive?

Put the 1.1.5 in the VST folder, fast scan, and it will show up in the list. Uncheck the massive that is already checked, and check the new one ;)

First off, if your copy is legit, why don't you just upgrade to the latest version(1.2.1 I believe) using NI Service Center? That might fix everything. Second, MassiveDXi.dll is not a VST plugin, but a DXi. They are similar, but your copy of Massive should just be Massive.dll if you're looking for the VST version

I was unaware that there was a newer version, I've just had this version of massive for a while, never had an issue with it until I started using FL Studio (recently). I don't like upgrading things unless it says "Hey bitch, you can't use this product unless you upgrade it!" If an upgrade is ABSOLUTELY necessary, then I'll upgrade.

In the list, it's now called MassiveDXi.
"There was a problem opening MassiveDXi for an unknown reason. Please make sure it was installed correctly."

Is this because it's a DXi and not a VST?

Yes, I checked them all. I don't have a VST anywhere. I don't have Massive.dll rather than Massive.DXi.
