Terra Riddim - Self Discovery DEEP DARK PLS LSTN & FDBCK

Post by TerraRiddim » Fri Jun 24, 2011 2:10 am

I have a super weird feeling about this one, it still needs a lot of fine tuning and some better atmosphere and melody, but for a couple hours work it's pretty good (hopefully)
I don't work a lot with vocals, and this is a bit different than my other tracks, so I definitely need feedback, and hopefully everyone doesn't think it's garbage :P Ez

I actually need feedback for once, so hopefully when people are online, this doesn't fall to the bottom immediately

kick drum seems too soft to me
i feel like if it was a bit punchier it would make that bassline seem a little more aggressive

kick sounds good, i'd say the overall level should be louder for the whole track. its sounds great, i just had to turn my speakers way up to hear it.
what is this world coming to?

I have the kick low passed, that's why it isn't as punchy, before I bounced it I turned down the volume on the kick but next time I'm working on it I'm probably going to bring it back up, the hi hats need some changes in EQ as well. Thanks for the feedback guys ^^ Probably going to focus on boosting the volume on the overall mix tomorrow so it isn't as quiet.

Did some more EQ work, and the kick has a bit more punch but still has the soft, lo-passed feel. I used adaptive limiters to help me get a bit more headroom so I can bump the master volume a bit, I'll bounce a new copy and post it up today

Nice track dude.. Maybe at 1:57 with the vocal solo what happens if you pitch shift up a short hit of vocals by 12 semitones and soak it in reverb.. rekon it might sound prime.

Also maybe a bit more reverb on the hats.. I know it's not ALL about reverb but in this track I think it's probably a good idea.

Even if you didn't do those things it's still a solid track. Nice work dude :)

Yeah I like this a lot. It's really nice to vibe to and just drift away. Try testing it in a car with subs. I bet it would be crazy.

The sub layer dominated the rest of the track, loads of bass but it was overpowering so I have to lower it a bit, thanks for the positive feedback! ^^

@ Terra Riddim

Cool ideas here man. Like the sounds.

I have to agree with some others, maybe some extra lead lines or something to spice it up. I do enjoy the percussion, the claps are a nice touch.

Also, I see it is running around 7 minutes? Maybe instead of writing extra synth lines (just to add variety for length) cut it down to 3 1/2 minutes and have a shorter, more quality track.

Keep up the great work though man!

Thanks for the FB, working on some minimal synths/pianos to play one of the melodies, keep it chill and open but a little more full sounding
