Nope, feedback first. Read the fucking rules. You upost a new WIP - you give THREE MINIMUM FEEDBACK POSTS FIRST.

FFS, I wish we had a moderator JUST TO DELETE these kinds of posts.

I'd help you out if you wanted to take up that responsibility as a team considering this our most posted topic and il get on giving feedback when i have time rather than posting in a test hahahaha.

Jesus mate. I did read the rules I just thought it was three feedbacks in this thread overall before posting, which I've given plenty more than. And bevOh, I think I gave you feedback on one of your track so the hostility seems incredibly unwarranted. Sorry to infiltrate your little firm over here.

@samkablaam - Nice track bro, like the chilll vibes. The echoey rimshot and samples are real good
@RandoRando - Mean tune g, i can see the burial influence. Sub and percs are nice
@Budspencertron - That sounds evil as man, liking the wobbles and drums

This is a a little different than the usual chill shit I do. Decided to have a go at a brosteppy tune
I think sample might be a little loud at the start.

Bevoh, do u hear a click at the very beginning or at each time the sample loops? Cause at the very end is supposed to simulate the needle droppin on a record.

So you didnt notice that almost every other person was leaving at least 3 feedbacks everytime?

@Sifty: seems like you got production down but.....that wobble and those synths dont sound original at all. im just not really diggin those notes too. but fuck, the track seems like it's got some good structure to it.

@BevOh: i just listened to that about 4 times to try to look for something that i would change, but i honestly cant think of anything. it does seem pretty simple but i like it. i guess i'll offer better feedback when i hear that sub

@samkablaam: first 30 seconds of the intro was sorta boring me, but then when the rimshot hit i knew i was gonna like the rest. it's a cool track and the glitchy vocals are tight...just not sure what i would mix it with? i guess i'd just listen to this song on its own.

edit*: nvm lol i cant make shit like that
AND IM BASED WITH THE MARTIANS

@limenode: Great mixdown on your stuff mate. content wise really not my kind of dubstep, the movement of the basslines doesnt seem to flow always but sounds like a good amount of thought has gone in to processing your basslines :W: and it's haaaard to get that shit sorted
@budspencertron: listened to all of your three tracks...feeling spaceship the most, some nice synth work, reminding me of the old school wibble wobble business =] reckon the drums could do with more punch, bit more 250hz on your snare. nice track though.
@charleswpeck: feeling the vibe on this palimpsest one man definitely. just the sort of thing us MindSteppers like :4: think with the elements you have there could be alot more room for movement and variation...split that shit up and get those elements travelling around. Spacey shit tho, my fav track of the last few pages.

Here's a couple from me:

Soundcloud

Not mixed, just stuck a limiter on it. Structurally i feel its done but mixdown wise definitely not!

Soundcloud

Part HipHop halfsteppy bizzle, moves into dubstep at the end. Again not mixed and not structurally complete either.

@advocate
1st one - EPIC track man. a track like that could use some stronger kick drum. sound design is amazing. not much else to say on it.
2nd one - like the vibe. sounds weird to me for whatever reason but idk I like it.

@Sifty try to incorporate some low growl to that bassline and it would be golden, it is silver at the moment.

@charleswpeck interesting, I like it. not my style but I do like it. Not necessary, but try using a more complex synth for that lead, it just sounds like a straight-out-of-the-box saw wave.

Here's an updated version of my previous WIP:

EDIT: Updated it again, replaced with the newer version.

Thanks for the feedback (despite my having fucked up) you all.

@advocate: as jisreal said, your sound design skills are exceptional. the sub in that tune is fucking brilliant. love the pads as well. glad to hear someone doing something original with tunes like that. track below it already sounding good pre-mixdown. great work all around!

@jrisreal: nice melodies going on there! the subtle lfo increase on that wobble toward the end is a great touch. drop is very nice too. looking forward to the finished product! thanks for the tip on the lead--it is indeed just a two-osc. saw with a little lfo set to the pitch...could use a bit more soul i agree.

@budspence: the rate you put out tracks mate is nuts! i wish i had your work ethic! really digging this new one, the wobble has a nice, catchy rhythm. the little atmospheric effects are a great touch too, i would try incorporating them more throughout--just sounds a little empty when you return to the wobble. really digging that overlying melody too though. keep up the good work man!

When to walk away from a tune?

Post by ChadDub » Wed Jun 29, 2011 5:22 pm

@ASPECT-DUBZ: I really like the bass in this one.

@JRISREAL: The kick could use more low end, and it reminds me of wetness. That volume automation was way too obvious, make it less obvious lol. The drop was actually pretty good, I like the subbassline, it's prominent.

@ADVOCATE: I found myself listening to this seriously, like I forgot it was some random kid on soundcloud and just got into it. It's a cool song and I like it. Maybe if you made the main wobble less of a hard saw and more of a silky square it'd be better, but it's your track do what ya want. HOLY SHIT THAT BREAK. When you change the flow and melody it just hit me! It's like a mixture of a blues feel, a hiphop feel, a modern rock feel, it was awesome. Great job.

So I've been working on this song for about a week nonstop. All day everyday. But it's not really coming out so great.

Soundcloud
I mean, it's a step up from my previous work, which is great, but once again it doesn't really sound legit. Should I just drop it? Take a break and come back in a few days? I don't know.

@advocate(first tune)- This song is massive man, literally. I was listening through my surround sound speakers and the song completely filled the room, awesome stuff. Great structure and flow, although the song stays similar it never seems to get repetitive. Keep up the good work man!
@jrisreal- I was really feeling this one man. It's not essential but i almost feel like the snare could use to be a little bit fatter, maybe with some more reverb or something on it. The drop was sick though, and i really like the parts both pre and post drop. Keep working on it man it sounds like it's gonna be a sick tune!
@Limenode- A dubstep katy perry remix whaatt?!?!? I really like the chopped up vocal samples, you made it sound really good. The whole song has an incredibley good flow, and once the song drops, dear god that is amazing. Please finish this song i am now a fan.

I just started this song yesterday, mix is pretty wack but i'm liking where it's going so far. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

@mawsta like the yaw wobble after the drop just maybe add a very short delay on it and a chorus every 4 bar or something for the extra power

@chaddub sounds good hard sub cant give tipps on arrangment cause i dont listen to brostep

@aspect dubz really clean mix all i can say is finish it haha and maybe a vocal clip

@advocate :corntard: :u: :W:

Thanks. just some things I would like to point out. Kick has plenty low end, I just dumbed it down with EQ pre-drop to make the drop more epic. And thats not volume automation, thats master channel reverb automation

@budspencertron very experimental, works well with the powerful bass, theres just one thing id drop and thats the orchestral strings, apart from that, really liking it!
@mawsta for the intro, i would automate a filter from the low end back to normal to add to the build up, and also id change the actual wobble, only just because its been milked soooo much, the voice wave in massive that is, try the polysaw wave, sounds much better! :)
@aspectz-dubz man thats so so good, the highpass filter works so well for the build up, the drums are really groovy, that roaring sound makes it sound really big, and the bass is awesome, 5 stars!

havent put much effort into the mixdown just yet, also ive given the option to download just so you can hear the proper quality, because soundclouds quality has gone seriously WANK, kinda annoying because thats where they got their reputation from, high quality streaming.. anyways!

@Sifty- i like that bass, but i think some further processing is required, and the vocal samples here and there are really nice, but like i said, that bass is empty kinda.. i dont know what it is, the track sounds like somethings missing it may not be the bass.. i can pinpoint exactly what it is. but when this track is finished please send it over for a listen i like it. feedback on my track would be greatley appreciated
@RandoRando - i cant even begin to explain how much of a track this is. its just fucking gold. the synth work was incredible! and the lfo automation is spectacular imo. love it mate, and please give me some feedback as well., once again bravo man. bravo.
@ Mawsta .......... LOL FUCKING FPS DOUG ! HAHAHAAHA RIGHT ON ! i love the sample soooo fucking much, and the bass work was well done. but the track is overall kinda messy. not bad though.

And my WIP i would love some feedback on -
