Has anyone got any tips for creating interesting ambient pads or choir like pads in z3ta? Had some luck with lowpassed detuned saws/squares with delay and verb but the results always feel a little static and boring. Any input or random tippage is appreciated cheers.

maybe add a tiny bit of vibrato? also i find slow modulation helps with pads. either a slow lfo or automation to gradually vary the timbre over time, could be assigned to a number of things in the mod matrix.

z3ta has loads of waveshaping parameters that could be automated, that'd be my first call.

z3ta's multi sync/free oscillator option is great too. it turns a single oscillator into 8. meaning you can have 6 x 8!! it rapes your cpu, but if you finding your pads are lacking depth then utilising that along with simple slow, low range lfo modulation as well as reverb, stereo chorus etc will get you far. also if you find lfo modulation is making your pads too predictable, try utilising envelope gates to modulate your lfo for some more interesting variations. also, experiment with the arpeggiator. sounds weird but that thing does some crazy stuff sometimes.

Nice! Didn't know this. Love this synth - just hate tweaking with a mouse....

Also, z3ta+2 - although I don't feel any need to upgrade http://www.musicradar.com/news/tech/cak ... nth-469287
