HARDWARE - Virus TI & SE1x (Angel Dust) - Looking for recipe

So this is my latest pairing out of a couple other hardware pieces. I've been exploring gear for a while, and finally have come to this duo, which is a fucking amazing sound. I've been lurking in this forum for a while, I really like the flow and reality of the minds here. The music I produce is DubStep ish, at around 140 bpm, w/ less emphasis on the zips buzzes and sirens and more on the bass, beats and a few leads. And I also produce some lower bpm downtempo trip-hop, the reason I'm here on this board is I know you guys know your bass, and that's what I've kind of blended into my creations.

My question is if anyone has some recipes for design on this duo, that you think might be useful. Currently I've been using the SE1x modulating some good modulated basslines live, and running some virus Arpeg's over the top. I use Live 8 and trigger samples that are cut up for the beats. Anyways, just bored and looking for some input, AMAZING board, good info here.

Unseen is a Tannoy TS10 sub running the Dynaudio's.

Peace and Grease! :corndance:

I'm no help just thought I'd say you got a pretty neat little set up simple and to the point the way it should be!

When I Google SE1 I just get stuff in the SE1 bit of London. What is it? My mate has a Virus and it sounds sick.

Thanks!!! Been cuttin' out the fat of my setup.

It's kind of taken me a LONG time to figure out that I should just STFU and get a Virus and use Live, I just need the Virus and an analog. I've been through all kinds of machines, but this combo is just ready for action w/ minimal fuss. I have been through alot of hardware to come up w/ this combo.

And once I picked up the TI, I kicked myself for not buying one a few years back. But, I got a good deal on it, so w/e.

The reason I posted here, was to see if anyone had some dubalicious recipes for the hardware, I'm not an expert in synthesizing, but I'm experienced, so I know my way around. W/o recipes I've still been cuttin' some nice clouds w/ this shit. Anyways, thanks for any and all input! GREAT FORUM!!!!!

SE1x ->>> http://www.novamusik.com/search.aspx?ty ... 035&mid=38

That is a link to it, it's basically a stand up to the Minimoog, w/ its own set of nuts. An analog beast.

Really seems like you've got the situation surrounded. I've heard complaints from analog peoples at the se stuff sounds thin and what not. I don't know what that is about, I've never heard one irl. Maybe it's jelly over your 3 lfo's and 4 env's hehe.

But really, the virus alone is enough, the se on top is just serious business. I want to hear these two in action.

Thanks. I picked up the SE1x on a whim, to try it out. I just recently got into the method of compressing the bass to step it up along side my mix, that's what I'm trying to master right now. The unit itself, cuts like a buzz saw through shit, however, my application of it, is what I'm trying to master inside the mix, its a rather large wall of sound to ride, and I'm slowly reigning it in.

Was just messing with some synths today. No intergalactic hate darts my way please, but the little phatty sounded less than phatty.

This little fucker sounded good though:

Totally destroyed the Roland Gaia, and I'm pretty down with the roland sound.

I think I'm going to stick to this duo, until my fingers bleed. And then some...

My set-up is more downgraded than yours , Virus C & SE-1X lol
Bought the Virus new many years ago , Got the SE-1X secondhand off E-bay (£730) last week a quick polish and you'd think it was brand new.
I probably paid over the odds but its rare you see them for sale.

Lovely bass on the SE-1X
