Nice article man. I've never really thought about the flow in that way. It's something I'm definitely going to start using more

I don't get it, so he was basically saying to blend your transitions or what?

Cheers glad you guys found it helpful like. Its one of those areas in music that until ur aware of it, when it is working properly you take it for granted, and when it not working you know something is wrong but cant quite put your finger on it...
Raggles - not sure what you mean by blend your transisitions. What the article is saying is how your musical phrases should be talking to each other. The best analogy is a conversation, how one person asks a question (musical phrase 1) and another answers (musical phrase 2). If there is a specific bit your not sure of please let me know and will look to explain more clearly and update the post...

Been thinking about this a bit recently. Call and response is definitely a huge factor in the major hooks/leads in big tunes.
Even the big old-school tunes had it down.
The main hook is quite short, but it feels like you could listen to it over and over because of how they flow back and forth.

sick that they mention Burial, the very first thing I thought of when I read the call and response thing were the hihats in ''Southern Comfort''
