So proffesional, which I am but I'm also a raver which makes me cringe when I have to act professional
Oh and dude...
We've project to make a tiny profit each, there's 5 of us and the awards are costing tens of thousands of pounds. Without going in to figures, we'll each probably make about the same as one of our headliners are being paid.
:-)
Which for all the hard work... Well... I'd say that was fair!
hmmm...

also please can you expand on the below ??

Plus please could you specify how the voting is set up? Will you be able to vote for ANY artist under a category, or will you supply a shortlist to pick from? If so how have you arrived at these shortlists?

If you write your answer as oppose to selecting an option will you still count spelling mistakes etc?

How are you preventing multiple votes from the same voter?

What are your criteria for 'dubstep' as a genre? Do you consider some material under labels such as swamp 81/hessle/deep medi as dubstep, artists such as ramadanman etc etc? Where are you drawing the line to what is eligible or not? People would not like to see votes discounted due to not fitting your criteria?

Hi Brasco,

Thanks for stopping by the thread. Apologies for not replying to your post sooner. - I hope you're well.

Voting shall be open, this means that you can type the name of ANY artist you wish to see win, in any category. - No short list has been picked or nominated, this we feel will limit the chances of those lesser known artists/acts and so on.

Names that are spelt slightly incorrect will still be counted yes. However, should the name be spelt incorrect enough to be undistinguished by our software, then it won't be counted. - So for example, if 'Loefah' is spelt 'Lofah', then this will be counted, should it be spelt like "lof" or 'Lofa', then it will likely not be counted as a valid vote. - People should be careful when entering their nomination in each category to make sure their vote is counted. Sadly, there's no way round this and we'd hope people would type the names spelt correctly.

Multiple voters can be picked up and tracked via our voting software, incorporated into the voting database attached to the website. Irregular voting and false voting is easily distinguished using the software, it does this by checking patterns and information from IP addresses, Registry Keys, and Cookies to other Internet 'markers' left by computers visiting the site and casting their votes. It's all rather technical but believe us, it works in all most every case. - The software was deigned and tested by a third party organisation that is globally reconsigned for it's high end technology based consumables.

The criteria we have it open and varied. Dubstep is a very broad genre that accompanies a lot of different sounds. So, to this effect, there wont be a criteria as such. Should an artist or act etc have more votes than the others that have been voted for then they are undoubtedly the winner, regardless of whether our personal opinion believe it to be Dubstep or not. - However, false or fake votes for artists who CLEARLY aren't Dubstep won't be counted and will easily be distinguished from genuine votes.

On your website it says dubstep was founded in Soho. I'm no authority on the early days of the genre but I am pretty sure you made that up. Its common knowledge that dubstep was founded in Cornwall in 1992.

This thread sums up this forum sadly n probably the main reason most of the artists you love don’t even come here now... Its been such a breathing ground for waste men with far to much to say but far too little to offer, I mean most of the bitching comes from users who joined only a few years ago yet preach about "roots"... Where were you 10 years ago when Distance used to play for £2 under a bus stop or 3rd bass was half full?! Yes yes yes I'm sure you all have your excuses but from where I'm standing I dont think are in a place to start gobbing off and especially when you didnt even know the line up for this LOL Some of your fav DJ's are on here yet you still aint happy, clearly you never will but will continue to preach which just makes you and the music your preaching about seem jealous and if anything is affect the music you love, isnt that a problem at all for you?! That guy (you've all seen him at one point or another) preaching about God by the station or in your high street. Do you see many stopping to listen to him n support him? No cos no one likes preachy twats. Some of you even troll on the FB page of this event to try n preach your words of wisdom... Massive fail n if anything will kill your beloved music, who wants to support arrogance? N fuck me they are just kids, let them like wtf they wanna, when you were young how would you have reacted if some preachy twat gets on ya page n starts bitching? IMO you'll kill your music with this sound shit attitudes...

Darks I love you brother, I've known you a long time - I've supported everything you've done but I gotta say I'm pretty gutted at your comments. This is Dubstep brand I'm sure has made you plenty of money and yes 10000% earned it for your constant support n representation of the scene but dude you sell T-Shirts with Dubstep written on them which ironically are probably bought by more "Jump up" followers than deep heads only on the basis that the "jump up" stuff is more popular.... You sell CD's labelled This Is Dubstep which used to support all walks of Dubstep until it became popular, I dont think its ok to slam another company just cos they are doing something they wanna do. Again no offence to be taken mate just didnt expect to read stuff from professional artists, I'd expect it form the ones who always bitch about anything but as a business man surely its not too cool is it?

And why on earth would they wanna bring DSF into their business? Is that going to make it fair? I doubt it seeing as the DSF awards are as predictable as the sun coming up tomorrow morning and have been for some time. ALL awards are bull, everyone knows that yet you've ranted on 19 pages... Nice work!

I have and always will support both sides of the fence, produce n DJ both "Jump Up" And "Deeper" music not cos its what this board tells me to do, not cos its cool to be underground, I do it cos I love music n many different forms. I dont preach my knowledge to anyone n I'm all about one love, something maybe some of you should try and do a lil more...

And a lot of you will know me for speaking my mind, I'm sorry if some of you are offended by my comments, never meant to be the case at all just speaking my mind n not just agreeing with with the sheep... I know I'll get gunned for these comments but really someone has to say it.. PKay does a good job but fuck man why cant you see how bad this kind of attitude is to a scene?

Thank you for your comments, we appreciate you stopping by the thread and for your support. :) - We hope you're well and enjoyed the weekend.

We must agree, such attitudes can only hurt the music. Trolling and spamming our pages is only bringing more negativity towards your representation of Dubstep and certainly wont help those you support win any awards. - We love everything about Dubstep and it's many forms here at the DMAs and many artists you're keen on, we're keen on, if not all of them!! We have a varied team and a diverse event and for our first one, we've tried to do the best we can to launch ourselves in to, quiet obviously, a touchy market. We're not here to hurt the scene or to annoy those that follow it, the complete opposite, we're simply here to allow those that follow it a voice and to celebrate the genre we all love.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

We can assure everyone that we are not money hungry novices that are cashing in, or, commercialising Dubstep.
We simply want to award those who make the genre what it is!

lol cut the bs this is all about the money, 27 quid a ticket?

I don't think you realise how much some of these artists charge for their time.

Despite what some of you may think, these guys don't come cheap, nor does the promotion, venue, security and a whole host of other outgoings you wouldn't consider. - We're certainly not in it for the money, it's a large risk to take and we're taking it because we love the music and the scene it falls in to. - People charge in excess of £30 for one act in other genres, think yourself lucky you get to enjoy over 25 of this genres favourites for less than £30.

Thanks for stopping by Ryan, we hope you had a good weekend.

The CD's are clearly stated "GETDARKER presents THIS IS DUBSTEP"......There's a HUGE difference in what you've stated.

We didn't want to seem patronising, however these things come at a great cost and are in no way cheap to organise or run.

The event capacity is less than 5000.
