Do they have fireworks in London
Just wondering if you guys celebrate July 4th in London or Australia. And is it called independence day or firework day? As for me I had a nice time making piccolo Pete bombs tonight

Do you really think the UK would celebrate losing a colony? The 4th is most definitely your holiday for rubbing our noses in it!
Australia has Australia Day...

I thought you would have at least celebrated the time we worked together to over take those aliens....
I also love the fact that July 4th also marks the day that The Philippines were granted independence from the United States (and is also the day the US helped liberate them from the Japanese).

we celebrate Guy Fawkes
Independence day is the day where you Americans celebrate your independence.
I`m from another country but I know that.
Firework day? is that like Fall? you know the month where the leaves fall off the trees?

That's one of the dumbest questions I've heard for at least a week. Congratulations.
Next week, do the Japanese celebrate VJ day?

We celebrate Guy Fawkes Day in NZ, unfortunately years of regulation have taken away all the cool fireworks.

Google can be used to search for info about all countries.

Fair enough, but a bit of common sense doesn't hurt... I mean, if you know why you celebrate Independence Day, it should be pretty obvious why we don't join in!RandoRando wrote:i havent even been out of the country. how should i know? it was just a question. Re: Do they have fireworks in London
you've got some weird propaganda for news if it gives the impression that the whole world is putting on firework shows on 4th july to celebrate US independance, each country has its own culture and history to celebrate- bastille day in france, austraila day, canada day, guy fawkes firework night in the UK etc etc.RandoRando wrote:Which is why i asked if you guys call it firework day (pulled out of my ass) or something like that, cause i have seen firework shows on the news that are worldwide, magma wrote:Fair enough, but a bit of common sense doesn't hurt... Why do other countries celebrate Bonfire night (5th November)?

Re: Do they have fireworks in London
Probably to do with the whole Catholic vs Prodicent garb since it's the celebration of the death of Gay Fawkes, the leader of a Catholic group who was plotting to remove Prodicent rule in England, such failures give pro-Prodicents a hard-on. Although I could be wrong.Neptune wrote:Why do other countries celebrate Bonfire night (5th November)?

Re: Do they have fireworks in London
Most likely former British colonies who've been celebrating it since before they broke free of the Empire. The gunpowder plot was in 1604 (I think?) and a lot of the Empire was built after that, so lots will have adopted the motherland's traditions along the way.Neptune wrote:Why do other countries celebrate Bonfire night (5th November)?
The US War of Independence was bitter enough that they sacked off all of our holidays and made up their own!
