Just a thought maybe if no one in your ends likes dubstep then their loss. I know sometimes Essex can be a little bit behind of the times, like when I used to stay at my nans in the summer people used to be hype about the New era caps like a year after London.

It would probably be easier if you bought it closer to London but just dont make it clash with another big event. Bank holiday weekend is a good choice :)

And im sure some of the less known, newer DJ's would probably play for free or team up with someone for additional funding.

we have taken dubstep to herts/beds... the phone goes silly for it the one show a week we have on pirate radio and all 3 events we have done so far have been busy- with the dubstep getting a massive response..
we are carving out a scene for it up here... people are proper getting on it, and thoroughly enjoying it aswell...texting in asking for tune names and where they can get more of the music

keep plugging it, i played dubstep for years on radio with muted response, then after a while it started to get busier and now its mental...

east anglia on a whole is very quiet tho...
theres a few man on it in cambridge aswell..

like that here in wales....... well in south wales

the few dubstep fans in this area are to far apart and is a mission to get us all together to do a night. even when that happens, some idiot will come over n asks "when the drum and bass coming on" :| :| :|.... or winge that its to slow!

in this area, its drum n bass or die!!! people seem to like taking a few pills, dance like a mong to dnb for 6 hours and blag a lift to a free party, to carry on dancing like a mong for few more hours...

mala n skream have played here in carmarthen... the mala gig had a good crowd n the feeling in the place was electric.

the skream gig was dead due to a few local lads putting on a dnb in a pub down the road

just a long road to get people loving dubstep like dnb here...

sure its the same in most places outside the main cities..

but i aint gonna give up!

gwyn. me, you, ben, rich (risq) and matt shoud do a strait dubstep night!!! no big names or nothing just us playin! and i bet we will get as much as a crowd as the skearm or mala gig easy! we earn more money to invest and keeping it local should build a nice steady fan base. to hit with the big names. rather just promoting nights with big names.
as matt n colin doing

Nice

Post by dikiie. » Wed May 16, 2007 12:41 pm

oi cheers for that bois ill add u on the ol myspaz, we arnt sorting out nething just yet next night will probably be around julyish we gonna move away from our current venue and need to set sum shit up rararara. but yeah for sure ill be in touch. could do with a dubstep slot on mystery i swear they dont have one.
i aint got nothing against dnb, im a junglist at heart thats where i got into dubstp and spin dnb more than dub atm, my mates the one with the fat stakcs of step, and i think the two could be combined well but the probelm is like u sed, if u advertise the two together the dnb heds dont proper appreciate the slow wobble. its a stitch.
wev had better results with just advertising it as dub step and reggae altho then u get a bunch of middle aged half steppers drinking fair trade wine and wearing sumthing made of hemp.

Birmingham is even worse there is NO dubstep nights at all.

the Break thru crew who do d&b have a few dj's there spinning dubstep but in all there events they had digital mystikz & youngsta out of nearly 1 years worth of raves, i am NOT slagging them off as i know some of them read this forum but they could do with promoting the dubstep sound alot more imo.

for the 2nd largest city in the uk the dubstep scene is dead which is a real shame as all forms of music get events in the city apart from dubstep :( :( :( :( :(

trust stay where you are, it would be wicked to see the custard factory rockin to a loefah set or some distancew dubs gettin rinsed on a heavy system.

its a waste really with dmz, subdub, subloaded etc why cant a Brum promoter get some dubstep night off the ground, i would do it myself if i had the cash, shame NOBODY is willing to get off there arse & do something about the lack of a scene

you dont need that much money to promote a night!!!

flyers and money to hire a club unless you got a cushty deal with the door money. oh and paying djs..... ya dont really need to get the big names up if ya got talented local djs.

just dont expect to make much money from it tho

tbh if i did a night it would NOT be to make £'s it would be to promote a sound that i think is the best thing to happen in uk music since "jungle" came out.

1) dont think the sound would pull nuff people to break even
2) dont know enough dj's that spin the dubstep sound compared to jungle which every dj i know plays.

1. you will if you promote it well!!! give every one a flyer n get posers out as much as possible.

2. this is where this forum comes in handy. like i sed i wouldnt mind playing. wouldnt even ask for pay. just a few drinks like.
