I was watching this trial whist in Florida and was quite captivated. Its great how you get to watch live trials like this on TV.

I didn't hear the defense but the prosecution seemed to have a pretty strong case against her so i'm surprised by the verdict.

My sister is a lawyer and texted me not guilty literally 2 seconds after the forensic anthropoligists testified "we do not know how she died" 3 of the PROSECUTIONS witnesses basically set her free.

You cannot convict in 2011 without forensics or at the very least cause of death to paint a vivid picture of how they died.

The experts painted doubt, the defense expounded on it, that is all that is required in the US.

i find it ridiculous that they didn't find her guilty of anything but the false information charges. i can (kind of) see the reasonable doubt for the first degree murder... but she also had a lot of other charges, including manslaughter and child abuse.

anyways i havent stated whether i think shes guilty or not. simply that the prosecutors did not tackle basic, fundamental, points and in this day and age where people go into trials aware of the concept of reasonable doubt in a hollywood manner, you have to prove your case.

you're kinda feeding into media hysteria and you're not able to separate that from how our legal system works. If you were accused of murder, innocent or guilty, you'd want the same due process.
