Anyone else have this problem?

If you don't know what note you're playing, look it up on a fretboard diagram or use a tuner and just translate it one note at a time?
I know how to do it, it's just it's a very long and annoying process. But I suppose the more I do it the faster I will get at it.

A bit late on this one,
I use Martin and Ovation acoustics,
one battered old Rickenbakcker electric 12 string.
An old victorian Hammer Dulcimer.

That's about it really. Been playing for about 20 odd years.
Average player.

I played some acoustic in high school. Wasn't anything special but caught the girls eyes at lunch hour. 8)

I played guitar for 5 years or so but never really got any nice equipment other than my Gibson SG. It has some sweet custom pickups on it too. My amp is a shitty line6 spider III. I jam with my drummer friend every once in a while, but other than that I don't play very much.
Tracks coming.

Kinda late on the reply but I've been playing guitar for about 8 years now.
I have...
Fender Stratocaster (Squire)- My first guitar that came in a box with a 25W amp.
Signature John Mayer Fender Stratocaster (Incredible deep sound, absolutely love it)
Line 1 Spyder II 75W amp (Comes with thousands of effects presets to mimic classic guitar sounds like Master of Puppets)
Some random Flanger pedal that I never use
Dunlop Wah pedal

For whoever is interested I resampled a basic C chord that I played with light distortion on my Strat through the Spyder and came up with some nice results. Almost like a deep cello sound, very warm. It's in the beginning and outro of the tune "Kanga" on my soundcloud if you'd like to hear it.

It was very rewarding to utilize something from my thrash metal/blues/punk roots in my newer electronic productions. :D

Definitely, saw him in concert and it was crazy. I'm not really into his pop stuff, but I respect him as an amazing guitarist.

The strat is awesome. It has a very deep warm sound that isn't muddy whatsoever. You should definitely give it a test drive at Guitar Center/Sam Ash/etc. :)

ive been playing guitar since i was 11 so a long long time... like most musicians i have a huge pile of old and new guitar gear but for the most part my setup is:

Fender HM strat
Westone Pantera
Takamine 12 string
Ibanez 4 string bass
Gibson nylon string classical guitar

for effects i have pretty much use a line 6 pod xt now (with the floor pedal controller).. aside from that i have a bunch of rack effects (digitech, gallien krueger, rat, boss, dod, peavey) and a whole bunch of digitech, dod, and boss pedals that i never use... My amp is a yorkville sound 100 watt closed back but like i said i use the pod xt now which does the amp/cabinet modeling so most of the time i just plug that right into whatever PA system im using...

heres a sample compilation of the stuff i wrote before i got hooked on edm...

I play guitar, I have one band/project where i wrote an performed everything on the records, with an old drummer friend, then I put the guitar down wen we lay live and scream at people. that ones called Abraxis, (myspace.com/abraxishc)I have a ESP LTD something 202, blackish blue, a Marshall JCM 900 and a Peavey 5150 head an box. I use the 5150 for recording and when I play guitar for my other band, Wish for wings(its on there somewhere some Myspace an facebook). I just got rid of this incredibly metal looking thing, an Ibanez X shape thing, I cant shred well enough to warrant having it, oh and a Jackson Kelly, real gay lookin blue/purple color.

i've been playing 24 years now (started on my 10th birthday and i'm 34 now). owned A LOT of guitars and amps over the years but over the last 3-4 years really stripped it down and just have an american fender double fat strat (2 seymore duncan humbuckers in it, sounds gorgeous and ridiculously versatile) and an american fender jazz bass and native instruments guitar rig which i love to death. the last actual "amp" i owned was a mesa boogie tri axis pre amp/mesa boogie strategy 400 (400 watt all tube) power amp and 2 marshall 1960a 4x12" cabs.

it was nice when i was playing shows out places but obviously couldn't justify keeping it for just playing/recording in my apartment.

indeed. neither of them had wheels either so it was pretty much carry them everywhere all the time. one of the reasons guitar rig on my macbook pro blows my mind (so much stuff in such a tiny space).
