I already have a digi label selling music on all the usual online retailers so i think it would be fairly easy to get another on there through the same distributor. Now i know having releases on Beatport isn't the be-all and end-all for artists, as some ppl are saying, and maybe i put too much focus on that in the original post, but what i'm getting at is that there are strength in numbers and there are a lot of people on here who are involved in all sorts of different aspects of the scene and if we get enough people on board i think we could create something with a fair bit of clout behind it, something we can all be proud of. And like people mentioned earlier, it will give new producers inspiration and something to work for, and the more experienced guys a chance to show what they can do. I like all the ideas about stickies and stuff, we could have different rounds a bit like the demo panel idea, except with release slots up for grabs. It would be good if we could get a mod or two on board but no-one has piped up in favour yet......?
I think they already said that you should start your own collective, pull together as artists, be comrades in creativity and ect, but that it would have to be independent, and not affiliated with DSF...
Its a great idea to network together and start independent labels, collectives, sound-units, ect., and if you look around, there are alot of labels that have sprang up out of the forums here, and even more supporting the artists... But, this has come up before and the answer has always been that you should do it independently...
I wouldnt count on a sticky or anything...
