audio interface
I'm heavily debating buying the Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AudioKont1/
It looks like a good unit, looks like it has everything I need but there is two things holding me back.
I have a cracked version of massive, If i used this and all the software that comes with it would my massive still work or would i have to buy it, a lot of my songs use synths ive made in massive and itd be a huge pain in the ass to re program everything
I've never used anything with the XLR and 1/4" input, if i were to plug a mixer (not dj) into the unit with two 1/4" cables would the levels match up or would I have to constantly tweak the knobs to get the sound right. I don't want to do that cause thats ghetto

Re: audio interface
You will still be able to use your cracked version of Massive. Just don't install any demos that come with your hardware. I recently activated a bunch of native instruments hardware via Service Center, did not pick up any of my cracked soft synths.
I'm not sure about your question regarding 'plugging a mixer into it', seems like an audio interface that you would output to a mixer through either RCA, XLR, or 1/4". Your levels should be matched coming out of the unit. if you are planning on using this as your audio interface for production I think you'll be all set, it'll give you input for live instruments, and output to powered monitors, headphones, or a mixer.

Re: audio interface
i meant out of a mixer that has 16 channels, go through the output jacks with 1/4 inch cables into the unit, everything will sound good

Re: audio interface
If you buy the Audio Kontrol 1 you can get Massive for free, it comes with a voucher for a free synth of theirs.
The AK1 is good but lacks some simple stuff like recording from the stereo mix. You can still do it with loopbacks and other workarounds though. Other than that it's pretty solid.
Edit: looks like they stopped the free synth voucher... now just has a discounted price on their synths it seems. Maybe another reseller still includes the vouchers though, dunno.
