This is exactly how americans view soccer/football

inb4beautifulgame
inb4notsophisticated

Re: This is exactly how americans view soccer/football
hmm, most americans i know dont even notice the dives.... i mean, the WWE exists in America, so there's that, too.
Re: This is exactly how americans view soccer/football
better than ur hand-egg
Re: This is exactly how americans view soccer/football
That's how people see it here too
Re: This is exactly how americans view soccer/football
really? thats kinda the number one reason most people i know won't watch it.knell wrote:hmm, most americans i know dont even notice the dives.... i mean, the WWE exists in America, so there's that, too.
in hand egg at least you can get penalized for faking an injury or attempting to disrupt a play by faking an injury (take timeouts and/or delay of game penatly)
anywho not looking to do _____ vs US just thought the commercial was spot on.
ive got a healthy fascination with soccer/football.... but like most americans wish the flops were penalized
NBA new CBA is going to start fining players $25k per flop and if they hit a dozen flops they will start suspending players. if they did that in soccer i think more people would dig it
Re: This is exactly how americans view soccer/football
That's how I see the NBA.

Yeah if you were to ask anyone around here if they liked soccer, they'll tell you "no" and give you two reasons (rarely will they give you one):
1) The players are all pussies
2) There are too many 0-0 games.
This commercial was pretty good imo

I hate soccer/football/whatever and I can not understand how people can love it that much or watch a match on the television voluntarily.
I always get the feeling I'm being lobotomised when I'm watching it.
Also; I like the vid pkay posted in the OP because it is a truthful representation of football.

ehh the high end of soccer is great. When great athletes play it, its a great game.

I can only really be bothered with the world cup.
Everything else seems fairly meaningless and dull otherwise
(plus the world cup gives me an excuse to get drunk in the middle of the afternoon and shout at the tv)

Yeah, no-one over here will defend diving tbh. Still happens of course but we dont justify it as a legitimate move like Latina American and continent Europe does.
Still, below the Premiership players will get ripped for attempting it anyway.

Never understand why American sports revolve around such ridiculous scorelines. Basketball is literally end-to-end non-stop scoring, totally removing all emotion from a play coming off. Nothing compares to a stadium full of fans erupting to a last minute winner.kidshuffle wrote: 2) There are too many 0-0 games.

You know, if you removed the allegiances, I reckon footballs a proper dull spectacle for the most part. If my teams playing then the rollercoaster of emotions and involvement is fantastic and incomparable to other sports. But if there's a random game on the tele I'll rarely sit through it. You do occasionally get the exciting game that neutrals can enjoy, but for the most part if you ain't really following a club I can see how football passes peoples interests.wolf89 wrote:Everything else seems fairly meaningless and dull otherwise

it encourages individual matchups, creates numerous small battles..onelove. wrote:

Also that much scoring causes 'runs' or 'rallys' which are a huge part of american sports.
Need only look at this past years NBA finals where the dallas mavericks came back from 16 points down with 5 minutes left. That type of hysteria and excitement involved in that game is something you aren't going to see in soccer. (not saying its superior, just unique to the sport).
Re: This is exactly how americans view soccer/football

but this is how most of us view americans so it really doesnt matter.
<keep it heavy>

That's cool... we're talking about the fundamentals of the sports, not the people residing in certain countries.Lectric wrote:

Tho kinda funny you're getting mad and possessive about a sport your country isnt very good at

for me, it's really hard to compare any sport to another sport. i like the ridiculous scoring of basketball, it makes watching your favorite team that much more intense..onelove. wrote: Never understand why American sports revolve around such ridiculous scorelines. and as far as high scores taking away from the emotion from a play coming off:

This isn't as funny as Terry Tate.
