Crackling: What sound card? Adjust the latency settings in the Audio options of FL. Put it higher until there's no buffer underruns. Try around 20ms-30ms, but if you need it much higher than that then you might want to get a better sound card at some point. Good entry level ones for decent prices include the E-MU series and M-Audio Audiophile line.

hey op, i know this isn't answering your question directly but if you haven't yet go and check out the moneyshot thread. everything you need to know bout mixing, volume relationships and what not. pay special attention when macc posts, man knows his stuff.
