A Challenge...

Post by Omega Dub » Fri Jul 15, 2011 10:25 am

I feel like there's a lot of shit talking on this forum from those who like deep stuff about how tearout/brostep is so simple to make - and vice versa, brosteppers talking shit about how deep stuff is so simple. So I'd like to see someone (or hopefully many people) step up and prove it. If you hate Skrillex, and think his music is just the same boring wobbles and screechy noises, and requires no talent to make... then make a tune in that style to prove that it's so easy. And of course the challenge goes in the opposite direction, if you think Loefah's stuff is boring and simplistic, then make a tune like Goat Stare.

But the real challenge is that your creation should be deemed comparable to the style you are trying to replicate by fans of that style. So if you are making a tune to prove Skrillex has no talent, then your tune must be considered the equal of his by fans of brostep. And same goes the other way.

And, if someone wants to make this really fun (and avoid potential contamination of the results by confirmation bias) don't actually post it here... release it under a new alias and only reveal yourself after you have the adoration and undying devotion of fans from the other side :corndance:

Why waste your time? Concentrate on making and listening to the music (which is entirely subjective) that you love. This won't solve anything, just merely cause new rifts.

Produce in your style, make mixes of the sound you love, push new producers/tracks that you're feeling. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see what point this will prove.

Its 50% about the Yoiiiis and 50% about the name of the producer that gains this stuff so much popularity.

Without having the name, nothing will be received in the same way. Same goes for the deep stuff......just without the Yoiiiiiis.

This is retarded. Has DSF really come to this? Just make the music you want to and ignore the rest.

I do... and I respect the music that others create, even if it doesn't strike my fancy :w:

I just thought it might be fun to call out the folks who constantly belittle the music they don't like by accusing the producers of having no talent.

I always assume that they are non-producers... I mean, if you have been producing for a bit of time and you have produced/listened to other genres in the past... You can't really disrespect another man's work just because it doesn't suit your tastes.

At the same time, the people hating on someone's work on a forum would probably be scared to do so if they where confronted by the artist in person.
