Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Whats up guys and girls.... I'm quite new to music producing. I've messed about mostly on fruityloops over the years as a hobby but now i'm looking to get a bit more serious and make some half decent tunes. I love Dubstep/Grime/Hip-Hop/Reggae plus more.
I was hoping someone here could help me out...I'm looking to buy a new laptop or PC and use it mostly for music production. I'm not too sure what specs i'll need. I got a budget of £600 for this so would like some input before i shell out for stuff i don't really need. If anyone here can point me in the right direction it would be most apperciated

edit - if this is in the wrong forum then whoops sorry

Hi,
I'm a Belgian hobby producer. It's my dream to make it as a pop producer.
I'm pretty new to producing dubstep, but I've been producing electro/trash for a year or 2 now.
I was sent here by a friend of mine and I'm pretty intrigued by this place...
So cheers.

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Been frequenting this site a lot, but never got around to saying hello properly.
I'm fairly new to the dubstep scene. Started in on it perhaps a year ago and only started jabbing at production like 3-4 months ago.
Recently I've started working on it more, using cubase and reason (mostly cubase). I have no expectations as to what sub genre or niche I'll produce, I'm just letting the juices flow and accident by accident (lol) I'm learning and making things with more thought, knowledge, and a keener ear.
Uhhh I'm a second year student, double major chemistry/physics, I also play the drumset (it's where my musical interest started <3) and I come from a progressive death metal background. Luckily I have a good feel for rhythm, beat and times, but clueless when it comes to melody and music theory. I am fixing this by studying music theory independently and taking a basic musicianship course this fall term to further strengthen myself (and knocking out a grad requirement xD!)

Hello, all! I'm Miki. Twenty, female, Japanese-Australian, living in Melbourne.
I'm a second-year Arts student, double majoring in Criminology and Human Rights Theory. I also work for my university's radio station as a writer and DJ, and intern at an Australian music magazine. I grew up on a diet of trip-hop, techno, minimal, IDM and sunshine. My partner and I have been writing music together recently - I'm quite new to the game, he is a lot more experienced than I. I want to be Karl Hyde one day.
Lovely to meet you

Hey, I'm Seb.
Started with a small rock band, I played bass guitar for 9 years. Finally moved on to more complicated and technology-ish things, and am currently dabbling in dubstep. Enjoying it so far, but running into the typical newcomer's obstacles. Looking forward to sharing/learning. Currently using the following:
Ableton Live Suite 8 MacOSX
NI Massive
NI Razor
NI Reaktor
TouchOSC iPad control surface for MIDI in/out

I guess I'm somewhat of a newcomer. I had an account here a few years back, didn't check the site for ages and it must've been deleted. meh.
Regardless, I'm back and looking to waste time while at work.

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Hey guys,
Just started getting into the scene and like what I see so far. Spent a good amount of time in the "NEW TO DUBSTEP? A guide to start with is here." section and continuously find myself wondering where the hours went watching this stuff.

Trying my hand at producing. Curious to see where it goes.
Not sure if I'm using the right dubstep software but the fact is that I'm taking action and enjoying every step of the way.

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Hi everyone im thomas, i've been making dubstep for a few months now, actually well i started april (the day before my pap died) but anyway, i've been listening to dubstep for about 2 years now and am in love with it, it like transformers making love pretty much. Its been quite the learning process, and anytime i wanted to learn something new, google always pointed me here, and i've learned a lot from DSF. So for that i thank you all! Its only been recently that i decided to join the forum and contribute to what helped me so much.
