When Youngsta says it's like that, I believe him seeing he's Soulja's brother.

I think Rusko made up the word "Brostep" he talks about it in a interview couple years back.

Never a truer word spoken. Posting on that forum seems like a long time ago these days, not too much on DSF to engage with these days...

Never had a problem with brostep aleast it still sounded like dubstep in some form but skrillex is a whole nother story he should call it Skrillex Rape or something make his own genre then maybe dubstep can return back to normal

I think it properly went downhill with brogore and datsik. All the midrange stuff before that was still dubstep. Even older excision & rottun stuff were still ok.

Ladies, Gentleman, Bros, the sooner you accept your brodom and all come out of the bro-closet, the sooner we shall move on.

Since this thread has been brought back up, Fractal: I'm not saying dubstep 'came from' dub, but aren't the cultural and musical influences extremely obvious? Like, the 'dub' in 'dubstep' surely relates to musical influence as well as dubplate culture... I personally find that when explaining dubstep to people who know nothing about it as a genre influenced by dub and 2-step with influences from a bunch of other genres like Youngsta says in that video, they tend to get what you're trying to say. How is that not accurate?

It's accurate, it just ignores the vox/dub(version) origin of the word dubstep.

I hate how people argue that there's so much to dubstep when the people who invented and coined it were simply just making some fucking tunes too. You're like the stereotypical English teacher, putting more thought into a novel than the original author ever did...

 yeah, how silly of me to get deep about the origins of the term on dubstepforum... Jog on

Fwiw the term was coined by journalists, not artists

Whatever tho
