Yeah, it's really safe for when used occasionally as an anaesthetic. Its most attractive quality is that is basically does nothing to the body to cause complete anaesthetism, especially that it doesn't suppress breathing unlike other substances used in similar circumstances. I think it might still be used on children... the reason it got cut from general medical use is that if people weren't given enough they'd start hallucinating on the operating table!

Though it now seems unlikely to be used as an antidepressant due to its possible chronic toxicity in the urinary system it has had very good results removing phantom limb pain and also prosthetic limb rehabilitation. Basically, someone with phantom limb pain or a newly-attached prosthetic gets put in a ket-induced coma for a while and it 'resets' their brain when they come out of it. Very useful stuff, I might try russle up some research if anyones' interested (or I might just post it anyway)

We're going to be hearing a lot more about this, the massive increase in popularity a few years back is starting to take it's effect on a lot of people. I know countless people who get K-cramps and have pissed red jelly.

I'm interested in what the actual attraction of it is, from what I've read it's biopsychologically and phenomenologically the same as a 'mystical experience' but there's more to it about why that's attractive over plain life that just hasn't been looked at...

Who here is involved with academic study involving drug use? I've got a mate doing research for the Addictions Research Unit at Leeds Uni, just wondering if anyone else fancies doing some research off their own back? You can also PM me if you want to keep it discreet

its being studied for its antidepressant effects aswell isnt it, whuch may well have something to do with why people get so addicted.

i know it was always rumoured that the posh boys school on the hill here was full of ketheads, makes sense if ur locked in a dormitory all year.

Yeah it was being investigated either as an adjunct to therapy or as an actual anti-depressant medication as it allows you to 'snap out' of your current thinking trend (think of getting 'ketted out of your box' but with with less ket and more thinking involved). Not surprised all the posh kids are on it as generally you can take it without any major problems, not even a hangover like booze, and it's only prolonged use that causes problems.

That could be quite plausible: people convincing themselves it's amazing to make it worth taking?

But with ketamine then... is there a right way of taking it? All things in moderation I suppose...

It's one of the least damaging drugs you can take if 'taken properly' (as in very rarely). I remember reading the studies on its antidepressant effects and they'd only give people one small dose and the antidepressant effects last a few weeks. It's also almost never used on horses, it's used on small animals occasionally, but its main use is in paediatrics and pre-op I believe.
I only really take it like 2-3 times a year, it's way too intoxicating to take often, fuck knows how people do it.

I love the way the worst parts about this, for the bloke in the video, are not the health effects such as his lack of bladder and de cartilaged nose, but the fact that it's not a good look having a catheter when trying to pull a bird, or rounds your mates house. got his head proper screwed on like.
