This snare..

I just love the feel of this song, it has a really open feel to it, perfect.

Besides that crap.. The snare in the song, what kind of snare is it? It sounds like open, it's the snares at the first part of the song, sounds like pans hitting and reverbing a little? o.O

Almost like some kind of Tom actually? But higher pitched o.O .. very acoustic sounding I think?

Hm, tried the Tom + Snare + Clap... Not exactly the same sound :/

Well, the samples are of course very crcial to get the right sound. So it might be the samples, keep trying with other samples. :)

True! :D .. I'll just work at it some more..

Just not sure what exactly I should layer, and what not.. I'll just experiment.. Will post back if I figure it out ;P
